ResMed Magnets

Post by Jackb » Fri Dec 01, 2023 12:04 pm

Hi all,

My name is Jack. I have been reading the forum for years. I have found tons of information that helped me a lot. Thank you.

However I am posting for the first time as I wasn't able to find further information.

The company that sold my mask, a F20, emailed me to let me know about an issue with my mask. Apparently something to do with magnets. It lists all the contraindications.
Should I be worried about magnets? Seems like all the talk is around philips magnets. But not resmed's? I don't seem to have any of the contraindications.

Has anyone decided to get a mask refund for something else?
Thank you

Do you have any sort of implanted electrical device (like a pacemaker) in your body anywhere?

Luckily, as of today no.
I do have screws in my knee! But that doesn't matter... and no, the magnet won't stick to my knee :lol:

The warning and concern about masks with magnets is for the people who have something implanted in them that magnets could potentially interfere with. Pacemaker is the biggest concern for obvious reasons and they are normally implanted in the upper chest which isn't all that far from where the mask would fit on the head.

Since you have nothing (at this time) then there is no concern.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Because Resmed employs engineers, whereas philips ... nobody's figured out what philips uses to come up with their crap. maybe people that failed engineering classes.

That's why Resmeds haven't been recalled for foam, they don't have heater connections that burn up, they don't have machines that overheat, etc etc etc.

Resmed magnets are *designed* to not be strong enough to cause pacemaker issues, whereas philips, as usual, cheaped out and didn't do the research.

Resmed have issued an advisory concerning the magnets in some of their masks. Read it here:

https://www.resmed.com.au/mask-magnet-clip-guidelines
* Download Oscar
* Oscar help
* An alternative to Oscar - try SleepHQ

I have no medical training or qualifications. Take my advice for what it's worth.

What effect would the magnetic field have on your brain over a long period of time using a mask with magnets?

Probably the same effect as having your brain exposed to the Earth's magnetic field over a long period of time.

It's good to be back, I almost found out if there were really those pearly gates but I guess it wasn't my time to go.
