N95 filter for Remed Airsense 10

Post by CharlieWW » Sat Aug 10, 2024 8:45 pm

I sometimes have allergy to pollen and needed a good filter. So I designed and 3D printed an adapter to take 3M respirator filters and cartridges and a hose adaptor that allows me to use a spare CPAP hose to connects to my Resmed Airsense 10 inlet.

It has standard 3M respirator filter bayonet connectors on each side so can take any 3M cartridges or filters. I'm just using 3M N95 filters (actually the Australian equivalent p2/p3) for pollen and mold spore protection. I see many people on forums struggle with wildfire smoke and CPAP, using activated charcoal cartridges would solve that. I have fairly low pressures (8cmh2o) and there is very little resistance through the filters and its not putting any load on the fan motor. I change the filters regularly to make sure there is always good airflow.

I've put the 3D model up here if anyone is interested in making there own. https://makerworld.com/en/models/582256

I notice your maker page offers making adapters for other CPAP. What information do you need for the AirSense 11?

I personally am not interested in this but I have both 10 & 11 and my son has a 3D printing hobby,

I'd need the shape and dimensions of the air inlet port. I imagine the Airsense 11 is the same as 10 (round 14mm hole)?

I will try & get my son to measure accurately. What do you mean about the hole? I am not following your thought.

This filter relaces the square filter on the Air 10. You remove the rectangle filter currently in place and then place the hose adapter into the round inlet hole accessible behind the filter door.

On an Air 11, similar system, but the hole may not be the same size.

Looks like the hole on the Airsense 11 is a little obscured by the filter door. I think you'd have to unclip the door at the hinges.

Ok, thanks.

I just looked at my AirSense 10 and seethe round inlet hole. As you started, the aursense 11 hole is oval, partially covered by the open door.

My son was busy yesterday. He may have some design ideas to work around this, if people are interested. Personally, this does not interest me, but I saw I have the resources that could help others who may be interested.

If anyone is able to accurately measure the height and width of the oval I can make an adapter.

I don't have one to measure but it seems like you should be able to make one slightly cone shaped, or graduated diameters, so there would be one adapter to rule them all? Just a thought, still need a measurement I guess

Sorry, people.

I checked with my son and he is unwilling to help.

Likely intentionally, half of the oval is blocked by the curved filter door. My only idea would be something to clip into the curved door but the curve and sealing would be issues.

No worries. I think you'd have to remove to door to access the inlet. It does just unclip but there is a small risk of breaking the plastic so I wouldn't do it unless your really keen on hooking up my n95 filter. I found some good pictures on line so might have a crack at a tapered oval that should work (with the door removed).

Without trying, I have broken the door on my AirSense 10 a couple of times. I have not looked that closely at my Airsense 11 but I really doubt they improved that.
