Black screen

Post by Hwoodysr » Sat Sep 07, 2024 2:39 am

Wondering if anyone else has issues with the information screen black?
It's blowing, but not like normal. Blowing out like at a low setting. Any information about this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.....

If we knew what you were talking about perhaps someone could help.

Look at the info you've provided, how can anyone help with that little bit?

which machine do you have? there are several on the market, so the forum would need to know. also, how long have you had the machine? (what i'm asking is, is it still under warranty?)

good luck!

okay. now, if you can give the forum some more info. is the screen black all the time? have you tried unplugging from the wall and plugging back in?

also, do you have a backup machine? i'm thinking that the machine might have to be sent in for repair. a black screen, as you have probably guessed, isn't normal.

I have and use the DreamStation 2 from the recall. The screen should come on when the 'Start' button is pushed. It should display the pressure, the humidifier setting, the heated hose setting, and the Ramp +. If the unit is just setting idle and not started, an upward swipe across the screen with a finger should open a user 'Settings' screen. If the screen remains black for either of these operations the unit is likely not functioning correctly.

Regarding the low pressure. There have been a couple of times I accidentally enabled the Ramp function which started the pressure at a very low setting and I felt like I was starving for air until the Ramp time ended. Ramp can be enabled by a simple brush of the finger across the display screen once the unit is started which I've done while pushing the start button. If the screen doesn't display you likely can't tell if Ramp was enabled.

Unplugging for a while and then repowering as suggested is about the only thing you could try. Be sure all the power connections are tight.

I've unplugged it, used several different outlets, and it still doesn't come on...
I don't have a backup machine at this time.
Guess I'll have to contact phillips and go from there... Thank you for the help...

Good luck with that.
Hopefully your machine is under some kind of warranty.

If you can afford it out of pocket, there is a Resmed AirSense 11 posted recently here for sale. I bought a Resmed Air Sense 10 from this seller a few years ago as a backup machine and to use for travel. Good seller that I would recommend. While the DreamStation does an OK job for therapy, the Resmed's are a better machine overall. Members here can assist in setup if needed.
