Mask seal

Post by nawchem » Mon Jul 15, 2024 1:52 pm

This is the 2nd week in a row MyAir has mentioned my high mask seal. The highest this week has been 28. I tightened the mask and it is averaging 17.7 this week. I feel like my breath is kind of bad when I wake up. I turned the humidifier down since I am using a generator for power for a few weeks. Today I got the message my mask seal average has increased 37.7%.

Do these numbers really mean anything?

If so could it be my nose is clogging up a bit from the lack of humidity and I'm mouth breathing?

Any reason to do anything about this?

Doesn't sound right to me.
Can you use the SD card to get a better look at the data?

As a rule, leaks don't only come from the way the mask seals to your face - in
Did you ever run the "Mask fit" option on your machine?

Big leaks prevent complete therapy... and can also mess with your teeth, if you're mouth leaking. You mention 'bad breath'... do you wake with dry mouth? A sign of mouth leaking... we don't know what mask you're using... I tape my mouth *and* use a full-face mask. If you fill out your profile (see mine at the bottom of this post) we'll always know what machine, mask, etc you're using. Mouth leaks can happen when you're sleeping and don't keep your mouth closed... I didn't have a problem with this until I passed about 62 years old... had to move from a nasal mask to a FF.

Sorry I took so very long to get back. Had a major life moment. I moved to a new area where I am not regularly having cigarette smoke, weed smoke, meth smoke or pesticides entering my cpap. I have not had an asthma attack.

I use the Airfit p10 mask, I have used this type since 2018 and didn't have problems. I started getting messages on the new machine that heated hose wasn't working and I was getting no humidification and the large leak.

The DME put my machine on automatic humidification and the humidifier started warming again. I'm not getting heated hose messages anymore and my mouth isn't dry.

They told me to change the pillows on my mask every 2 weeks. I changed the pillows about a week ago, I didn't hear the mask leaking for about a week. The mask seal leak went down to 25 but now is back up to 33 and I can hear the leak again.

I wash the pillows, humidifier and tubing daily as the pesticide burning is still there. My mask is super stretched out, is pulled tight as can be and has holes in it. I requested another but was told not until November. I worry that getting the mask damp from washing could have made it prone to wear.

I am very tired at times, yawning and low energy after the morning caffeine wears off.

I am doing a titration tomorrow night. Is there anything I should bring up with them?

Yeah, ask them why they are ripping you off by selling you pillows, every two weeks and throwing perfectly good ones into landfills. Many of us use our nasal pillows for months.

Make sure you make note of their response and report back.

Thank you. I have the bag of pillows they sold to take into my study. Last night "climate line not working so no humidification ".

I got this machine in April of this year. I don't understand the issues.

Per the sleep tech:

One should be able to put the humidifier on as much or as little humi as you please and have it still work. That hasn't worked for me.

They let me take the study mask home, I think it is the 'guy' mask. The blue/gray Airfit P10.

Tech said the pillows should not be affected by wear nor be replaced so often. She had me try the larger size pillows which sat properly on top of my nose.

It is normal to have water in the climate tubing. Keep the machine low so it runs downhill.

It will be interesting to see if changing the pillows fixes all these problems. I'm starting to feel this Resmed machine is a little quirky.

I miss the simple Respironics.
