Just got the software hooked up on my S8 Autoset II

What is the 12?

My daily summary:

My setting is 7 min 11 max.
I'm thinking I need to raise my max to 12 . I clipped at 11 max one night.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Phil

I think the "12" is how many seconds that apnea lasted.

Looking good, Phil!

Looks good to me! Instead of raising the max I'd try raising the low of 7 to 8 and see what happens.

Thanks Brenda!
Did just that last night and had 0 AI and 3.2 HI so it did help.
I also turned off my humidifier and I woke up without any stuffiness.
It was raining last night so without any AC running in the house I think the air was plenty moist on its own.

Best,
Phil

Phil

That's great, Phil! Now don't change a thing for a few days and just keep an eye on the data. If it all stays good you get to relax a bit and just get some really good sleep!

Phil, your numbers look great. But yet you, like me, want the ideal setting, not just a good or "great" setting.

Challenge is, you can increase your high limit, and you may be able to tolerate higher pressures, but it may not appreciably change your results. And even just changing the mask, can impact numbers. Your leaks are great.

All suggestions here are good, raising the minimum, raising the max, or raising both, even. Just realize your numbers now are really great, so if you don't see improvement when you change, you know you can go back to where you are now.

Also, the main question I have for you, is how do you feel? Are you less tired? More alert? See need for improvement? How you feel at this point should dictate how much fooling around you want to do.

Before increasing the max range number, check your sleep study results to ensure you did not have centrals emerging as they increased the pressure during titration; if so, increase only by fractions of a centimeter and check numbers. Inducing centrals defeats the purpose of tweaking for optimal therapy. If you have no centrals, you don't need to be as cautious with pressure increases. Tho I had no centrals & doc's recommendation was to re-set to 9 on my CPAP, he agreed that my suggested range of 6-15 on the APAP would be good (during home loaner 95thcentile ranged from 6.9-9.8 with huge leak numbers (bye-bye pillow mask ). The 15 gives me plenty of headroom for events if I need it tho we never expect it to go that high...don't have reader-USB yet so can't tell what my max has been for these first several wks on APAP. So far, the max I've seen at a wakeup following an event has been 12.something.

Thanks for the comments.
I really do feel very good but I'm plagued with one issue...
Every night I seem to wake up between 12:30 & 1:30. I have a feeling that I'm not breathing that well. I feel "winded".
I will take off the mask and breath normally for a bit and then put it back on
I did another test last night and the chart actually shows the issue...

If you notice where I took my mask off at around 12:45 (pressure goes to zero) the HI/hr was raising but it didn't look like the pressure was increasing to counteract . I didn't have any apnea events with a min set at 8 so that's good but I still woke up during this high HI/hr.

I'm thinking I may be breathing out my mouth without knowing it resulting in a high HI/hr without the machine being able to compensate.
Thanks,
Phil
