It's a common problem, but it doesn't have to be.
CPAPtalk members have been compiling and exchanging solutions on this FAQ for ages now. Yet new user after new user visits and asks,
"How can I cope or combat the pain on the bridge of my nose?"
There's got to be a better way of building the knowledge that is so unique to our community. Here we don't censor or filter. Here we have a free flow of ideas.
Thanks a million to Goose and Rooster who have started storing information on this topic on the CPAP Wiki:
wiki/index.php/Pain_on_the_Bridge_of_the_Nose
This article is fantastic, because it's so easy to compile and so easy to use. You'll notice some key quotes have been copied from CPAPtalk threads regarding this issue -- and then pasted into the Wiki verbatim. Authors are cited. And the quotes are organized under the idea they support.
The big ideas for solving pain on the bridge of the nose are (so far):
* 1 Get a different Mask
* 2 Get a different headgear
* 3 Modify your Mask
* 4 Toughen Up
* 5 Adjust the Mask
* 6 Sleep Comfort Care Pad
Under each idea you can see who likes it, who doesn't and relevant info. If you think an idea or a detail is missing - You're right! Login to the Wiki using your CPAPtalk username and password and have at it!
Many thanks,
Katherine

Re: Pain on the Bridge of my Nose
MtnViewer has added to the list:
* 7. Using Tape or a plastic Bandage
Here's a sample of the great addition:
I've used plastic bandages for temporary relief or for healing a sore, but for the last couple of months I've been using 3M Transpore surgical tape on my nose bridge. [http://www.3m.com/Product/information/T ... -Tape.html] . A web search for "3M Transpore tape" will show you lots of links some with pictures so you an see what it looks like. I found it in a local pharmacy in the bandages area.
Thanks a million for your contribution!

Re: Pain on the Bridge of my Nose
I'm most appreciative of this post. I put a tiny dab of antibiotic on the red sore on my bridge and tape across it. Worked well, but slight leaks around tape. But my nose was much better this am.
I edited wiki to add the drugstores/grocery stores most likely are selling this in purple tape dispenser labeled Nexcare™ Flexible Clear First Aid Tape. (In very small print it says it's the hospitals version of 3M Transpore. Same stuff, different package and marketing). Only set me back $1.97 at Neighborhood Wal-mart.

Re: Pain on the Bridge of my Nose
I found another tape that works well. I actually bought it to tape my mouth for mouth breathing, but it is not strong enough for that. But it works great on the nose. It is 1" wide, flesh colored, waterproof, and is cushiony and soft. I tear a piece about 1-2" long and place it lenghwise right on the bridge up to my eyes. It stays on very well and stops sores and redness. I buy it at Walgreens near the other first aid tapes. BTW, I still use it for mouth taping, but add a 2" srip of the 3m white paper tape on top. Since this one is waterproof, it stays on better, but the 1" is not wide enough so I add the 2" to keep it in place. They work well together and stay on longer for me. I only do that when using a nasal mask.

Re: Pain on the Bridge of my Nose
All those things listed are good, but you also should list RemZzzs CPAP mask liners for helping to both heal a sore nose & then prevent it from happening again! RemZzzs are a wonderful solution to several mask-related issues, besides the sore bridge of the nose.
