CMS 50D + upload procedure

Post by paradiddle » Sun Dec 12, 2010 8:30 am

I just got the CMS 50D+ and recorded data last night. I am at a loss how to get the data to PC. I have the instructions and cord. It does not have an "upload" button like the 50E etc. I was successful getting test data last night and I am aware that a new session erases the old.

I didn't do well w/the manual written in "chinglish" either. Bless snnnark, here is his advice to me.

Slinky, you can't lose the data till you press "Recording ON" again. That's the only way to wipe the memory.

Let me try and go through the procedure with you

1. With your finger in or out of the unit, long press to get to the menu.
2. The cursor should be on "Record off". Long press to change to "Record on"
3. Short press moves cursor to "exit". Long press to exit.

At this point the unit is recording. The flashing yellow dot is showing whether your finger is in or not. It will start gathering data when your finger is in the machine. If you take your finger out it will wait till you insert finger again.

Next morning...

4. To stop recording. Long press till menu appears.
5. Cursor should be on "Record on". Long press to change to "Record off".
6. Short press moves cursor to "exit". Long press to exit.

Ok now to download!

7. Start up the Green heart SPO2.
8. If not already connect the USB cable. (at this stage I'm assuming the unit is NOT connected to the cable)
9. Connect unit to cable. Do NOT turn on.
10. In program, click on the "new session" button. (magnifying glass).
11. Enter details, click OK
12. Program should say "Waiting for data".
13. Long press on unit till menu appears. At this point the program should say "receiving data".
14. Enjoy the data!

The data will stay on the unit till you "record on" again.

If you need more info as to how to get the reports etc, just shout!
I would make one addition. Between steps 13 and 14. When at the Settings Menu with arrow pointing to Record off, make a short press to start "receiving data". Don't do a long press as this will start recording and erase previous data.

The 50D+ does not have an "upload" selection (unlike the e & f)

Wish I had bought an E model.........

Are you using the cable that came with the unit. It is proprietary, a standard usb cable will not work.

yes

I have tried every way possible and I need to send this one back. I have a hunch I am not doing something correct. I do get real time data so I believe cable is good.

I have tried the older .981 software and the disk that came with the kit ver 1.0

I gather data - then pull finger out (still blinking in record mode)
I power up software and connect cable
I start new session - waiting for data
I press button long + long to get into menu and then turn record off - then exit
No good

I press button long + long to get into menu and then turn record off - then exit
I power up software and connect cable
I start new session - waiting for data
I press long - nothing

is one of these correct?

I tried all three of your methods and all three worked!!

You probably got a bum unit there.... unless it has something to do with operating system. I think version 1 is for windows 7. Maybe try a different computer?

I too wish I'd got the E model. This one works well but the batteries make it heavy and it don't have the alarms. Maybe they can take that one back and you can upgrade!

Who is providing your support? Con-Tec, the manufacturer of the CMS-50s, or the company you purchased it from?
