OT: What did you name your CPAP? :>)

Post by oak » Fri Sep 06, 2013 3:28 pm

Hi, Just a little fun here. I haven't named my CPAP machine yet but am considering some names. Have you given your CPAP a name and if so, what is it?

I thought about it, but never named it. Not even the travel machine.
Though it could be "Kerouak".

Do you have names for all your appliances?

I stole this name from my buddy who visited me a dozen years ago, upon showing me his CPAP, he called it his "anti-death machine"... He is a BIG guy, so I figured (like many assume), that is why he had sleep apnea, me being skinny. I likely had sleep apnea since my teens, definitely through college, and most certainly when he visited.

This subject has come up on the forum fairly often over the years. The thing I've noticed is that it mainly seems to be brought up by women. Any idea why?

I've never named any of mine (or anything else, including parts of my anatomy).
But, if I were to give one of my CPAPs a nickname, "BJ" would be a possibility.

I dunno. Because women are used to showing affection towards "inanimate objects?"

We name our cars as well.

I named my first one Seymour the CPAP. When I gave it to my husband and purchased my new machine, I figured it should have a more feminine name. It is Celia.

I named mine Joe Blow. However, I later changed it to John. I got tired of people walking in and saying "Hello, Joe, whadda you know?"
