I've only been on XPAP since mid January. When I got my first CPAP (ResMed Escape II) and nasal mask (Comfort Classic) I really didn't know anything about this whole world of OSA.
Once I started using the therapy I found you all, and am so grateful. I found out that my Escape II was not data capable and that I really did need a humidifier (my poor nose was so dry). At my first meeting at Apria in El Segundo I was in a class with a dozen people. One RT showed us all how to use our various different machines. After everyone had left she did sit with me and showed me a bunch of different masks, but since I didn't know anything at that time and had nothing to compare it to, I kept the one they gave me.
When I found this site, I was pretty nervous about Apria from all I've read. But I have to say, the one in El Segundo has been really good. A few days into my initial therapy someone called me to see how I was doing and if I had any questions. Within a few weeks being on this site I decided to go to my GP and ask for a new script and she wrote it for exactly what I wanted. Apria was great about filling the new script, no questions asked. I now have the ResMed Autoset II with Hi4 humidifier and a full face mask (Quattro).
It's been a week that I've had the new machine and the same person at Apria called me to ask how it's going and she said that she was glad I was able to change out the machine. I told her I was getting used to the new mask and she said if within 3 weeks it wasn't working to let her know so she could change it for me. She said, "We're here for you. You don't have to do this alone." I was very surprised and very thankful.
I just wanted to put that out there. It must really be a case of which office you deal with and maybe what insurance you have. I can't really explain it any other way. I feel lucky.

Apria - El Segundo, CA
Hello,
As I live in Redondo Beach, my insurance company didn't have too many DMEs around the area so I wanted to find out positives and/or negatives about working with Apria Customer Service as well as the Apria facility in El Segundo, CA.
Anything about your experiences with this company would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rick

It seems that the outcome of dealing with most DME's, is governed by a complex formula, the combination of location, who's paying, phase of the moon, month, and time of day.
