I have a question for all those that will not use tap water. Do you drink tap water?

I used nothing but tapwater for over a year, when I lived back east. When I moved to Co. I got a white crust buildup after a few days, so I switched to distilled. Now that I have two chambers, I use tap water, and switch after two or three days, and clean the other chamber in the dishwasher.

The reason there is a mineral dust left is because it stays in the reservoir. If you breathe the vapour that is produced by a humidifier you are breathing distilled water anyway. Don't worry about it

Of course its OK. The physics is simple. Just empty and refill each day.

I have been using tap water for almost 10 years, the only time I used distilled was during a hospital stay as they insisted it must be distilled. We use the older style stand alone heated humidifiers which contain a stainless steel pie pan with a plastic cover, really not too hard to clean or fill. My wife started using cpap a few years ago and has the same style (obsolete) heated humidifier, I don't think she ever used distilled water. Likewise, we clean and replace hoses and mask parts as needed, not by the schedules provided by the DME providers.

When I stayed in the hospital this past spring I took care of my cpap as no one knew anything about it. I even chenged my settings as the doc didn't want me on that high setting and wanted me on auto after surgery. Good thing I had the manual to change it.

As far as the humidifier, I could have had tequila in there and they wouldn't have known.

Hmmmm that gives me a bad idea.

DId you have Tequila for sleep last night????? Did the doctor say why your pressure needed to be changed while hospitalized? Did you notice any impact on treatment when reviewing data post operatively?

Sorry abuot that open ended statement. I had a UPPP and my tonsils removed. My pressure was 20/16 and I was still having events and had major mask leaks, my doc had pushed the pressure up to 21/17 to help reduce events, which it did but I was still having too many and at that pressure I was swallowing air. My pressure was dropped back down to 20/16 and we began discussing surgery. My pressure requirement immediately post surgery dropped to about what it is now. After a day my pressure went up a little and stayed there for a while and slowly went down as I healed up.

No, I didn't have tequila last night. I don't drink much, maybe a few beers a year.

Last night I was in bed by 10.

So, you did in fact benefit from the surgery, correct? Changing your pressures now makes sense to me with surgery. I made it to 11:15 last night. Since I'm in the Central Time Zone, I did get to watch the New York ball drop, but was dozing!!!!! Would rather sleep anyway!!!

I had to get up to and go to work this morning, so I had to get some sleep. The hard part was getting our ten year old son into bed as my wife was exhausted and had already gone to bed. I probably slept too much last night as I have been wired all day and just starting to get a little tired.

I keep hearing more and more people from the area or should I say region on here.
Central time here also, Chicago suburbs.

If it was me I would try to locate and use the following in this order...

1) distilled
2) bottled
3) tap
