As 3M isn't sticky enough for my face I'm using "Fixomull stretch" with great success.

I mentioned in a previous post that the Nexcare Gentle Paper tape didn't get it done for me - the adhesive is just too strong so it's miserable to remove in the morning. I decided to try using the Scunci headband over the mouth, as another poster suggested, along with my chin strap. That was much more comfortable and worked to a certain extent, but not completely. It's still possible for the pressure of air to force its way out through my lips - so I still need to use some type of tape.

I tried the suggestion of painter's tape, and this is much better than the Nexcare. It holds my lips together effectively but doesn't cause nearly as much discomfort when removing it. It's still on pretty tightly, but it doesn't feel like I'm pulling off skin and getting bleeding spots as I did with the Nexcare tape.

My best results have been with the SomniFix AND a Chin-Up strip used together. The Chin-Up strip holds the SomniFix in place and keeps my jaw from dropping. My tongue stays to the top pf my palate and prevents the puffy cheek problem.

in with those scuncis, you might find a set of thin elastic bands. i use those over the scuncis to help keep my lips more firmly pressed to my teeth.

it may work for you.

oh also i use a firm foam cervical collar instead of a chinstrap.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

I use nose pillows and use Commercial Somnifix strips after experimenting with medical silk tape. The strips are much better and really convenient. I use each one at least three times. Just peel off in the morning and reposition on the clear liner until next use.

I get them to adhere really well by being sure to wash the mouth area with soap and water and air dry well - always right after brushing my teeth for the night, Then at bedtime right before application I do a light wipe of there area where it will stick with alcohol, which removes all traces of natural skin oils that would interfere with sticking. At first I positioned them without a mirror and then I saw a video where someone made a point of placing them on the mouth so the breathing hole in the strip was right at the lip opening, so did that but that caused me trouble with subconsciously trying to breathe through it while asleep and it would come loose. So I have gone back to applying it a little higher so the open slot is over my upper lip and it is much better. I do roll my lips in before applying.

It is easy to pull off so have no fear of suffocating.

I rely on Somnifix. I add a bit of Nexcare under the Somnifix for those nights when saliva manages to get out of my mouth and weaken the Somnifix adhesive.

Sacrifice a piece to see how easy it is to use your jaw muscles to open your mouth. And because I'm a cautious soul, I put a Reliance circuit monitor in a receptacle on the same circuit as the machine. It beeps like an alarm clock when the power goes out.

Hello all. I’m new to CPAP and site. I ordered some Somnfix and was using those and I get up every night, even before my CPAP to drink fluids. The somnifix are not supposed to be used but once but some say you can reuse. I tried taking off to drink and reapply , but they do not seem to stick good second time and I get leaks. I noticed when you tape with them and have high humidity and or moisture in hose it causes them to fail, especially if removed once.also they would be expensive if I put a new one on in middle of night, Sooo, two nights ago I tried 3M durapore silk like tape....wow, I did an experiment today and put on and off the SAME piece 4 times after reading the 3M site about how to use the tape. It is still useable now! It is pressure sensitive and does not stick until you press on it. If you follow 3M directions on how to remove it pretty easy to remove(not the paper tape though)!! 😩. I tried a chin strap and hated it and still was blowing some air out my mouth until I made it tight as hell!! I am using a nasal pillow. I’ve turned down the humidity and am hopeful about this eve. Like others though I find air still gets in my mouth no matter what I wear. 🙄

Tried Somniflex. Just too small, corners of mouth leak. Expensive experiment. Also saliva makes them lose adhesion as well. For a premium product, very disappointing.

Is there anything like Nexcare sensitive skin blue tape that is 2" wide? That would be perfect. I can get a good seal with the 2" paper tape, but I don't think I could remove it just by opening my mouth in an emergency (or while asleep). And the sensitive skin blue tape is only 1".
