Resmed S10 giving a Heating System Fault
Resmed S10 giving a Heating System Fault
My Resmed S10 machine just started giving me a message in the morning that says "Heating System Fault, therapy will run without heating". Anyone know what that means or how to fix it?
Re: Resmed S10 giving a Heating System Fault
Please call Resmed. I have noticed that their equipment is garbage.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Re: Resmed S10 giving a Heating System Fault
I'm showing the same message

Yes, I am having the same problem. I am on the third machine under warranty, but medical equipment supplier thinks it might be my fault that the heating strip is failing because it might be getting wet. changed to new tank and new hose, but it didn't go away.
Re: Resmed S10 giving a Heating System Fault
Their material is garbage. I have had like machines - either refurbished or "new" - from Regional Home Care here in Worcester and the problem keeps happening. In fact, I was issued my latest machine on Saturday and on Monday morning it started again with that "Heating System"....I started May 19 2017

Old thread--my Resmed machines, for over 7 years, have been very reliable.
This is generally the rule.

Gramps has been using their machines for about 25 years with no problems. I'm with them for six years with no problems.Esp wrote:Their material is garbage.

Re: Resmed S10 giving a Heating System Fault
1. Your reservoir tank is leaking into the heating element pan. It shorts it out. You probably ran the unit dry, and it screwed up the tank. You can fry them. Get a new tank.
2. Remove the four screws (star head) to remove the bottom plate over the heating element.
3. Disconnect the heating element power cord by pulling it out gently.
4. Take everything out carefully, then dry it off. It will be wet. Let it sit awhile to dry out. There are no electronic parts in the heating element that can get ruined. It's a solid piece. But make sure that the fuse is good. The wire does not connect to the power connector. It's supposed to look like that. If the fuse is burned up, that's a problem. If not, let the unit dry for a little while, then reassemble. When you power it up, you should still see the fault. Start a sleep cycle by putting on your mask. Take it off. Look at your history again and the fault should be gone, all green. You are good to go. Have a nice nap.

Re: Resmed S10 giving a Heating System Fault
Greetings everyone!
Hope everyone is doing ok given the virus.
I have a ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her.
2 days ago got the error message the humidifer is not working.
The machine is new, only had it since Oct 2.
In reviewing the excellent posts, I do note there was water on the top of the heating element. So I have removed the water reservoir to hopefully dry the heating plate out.
So do I assume that the water reservoir is leaking, or are there other issues?
I am not a techie at all so I sure need some assistance before I go to my cpap place where it came from.
I had a 2 year old same model that started to whine and I fought to get a replacement in Oct, now this issue with the new one.
At this point, I am not impressed with ResMed what so ever.

Sounds like you are going to have plenty of time to let it dry out and check if it still works.by ABoatNerd » Mon Dec 14, 2020 9:20 am
What I do know is that I have begun to feel better using estrogen and testosterone bio identical hormones - so I am going to cease the CPAP for a while.

Damage is almost always due to accident, playful pets, ignorant handling, or accidental or intentional abuse.
Resmed machines are probably the most sturdily built equipment currently available..
I treat my machine like the life-saving equipment it is.
No excuses.
No passing the buck.
And absolutly no trolling, thank you.
" . . . going to have plenty of time--"
Hormones are no substitute for diligent use of cpap.
Denial can be deadly.
Good luck with the fantasy.

Re: Resmed S10 giving a Heating System Fault
Sorry for the bump, but I felt the need to express thanks.
Don't know how some water got in there, but i have been filling it to the top of the plastic just above the max line, out of habit. Its hard to see the max line at night in a dark room. Dont see how this is the cause, as i have been using this machine for 4 years now.
I removed the face plate and good god the amount of dead skin in there.
For future reference to all those that want to try this fix, it didnt require any knowledge other than the steps above, but here is a few facts that might help. It uses a T10 screwdriver. The "Wire" that you have to remove has a white plastic piece that inserts into a sort of yellowish piece that is glued to the circuitboard. Gently wiggle the white part, seperating it from the yellowish part, in order to disconnect. The rubber shield should not be removed, but give some space between it and the circuit board in order to dry the surface of the circuit board and the underside of the rubber shield. I used a microfiber cloth (meant for cars, but it is large so it fits over my hand). In order to get into those hard to reach places, i simply did the nintendo cartridge method of getting the moisture out, as in, Blow hard and the water will force its way out of the various thin valleys in the plastic. Dry by hand on the parts you can, though. Double and triple check all surfaces to see there is no longer moisture, then reassemble. If this was the cause for the fault, it should work fine. You can use a hairdryer, but dont hold it close. Personally i kept it about 10 feet from a space heater set to low.
You saved me from having to shell out the $'s to replace the device.DiGriz wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 12:33 pm1. Your reservoir tank is leaking into the heating element pan. It shorts it out. You probably ran the unit dry, and it screwed up the tank. You can fry them. Get a new tank.

I got this message on my last bi-pap machine and that message means that your humidifier has failed and you need to either get a new machine or get yours repaired
