Airfit P10, how to tell if I'm a medium or large?
Airfit P10, how to tell if I'm a medium or large?
I've been watching the sizing videos, and honestly, I can't tell which size I should be wearing. The medium fits into my nose just fine, but I find it hard to breath in and out of. I can wear the large, but it takes some finagling to get it on my nose without a leak, and then, only occasionally, a leak forms during the night from a bend in the silicone going into the nostril - I have to get up and re-seat it. With the large I feel like I can freely breathe though.
Any advice on this one? I've been using the large for a couple of weeks now, and my AHI is finally getting below 5 on a regular basis, so I don't feel like messing with things too much. I just want to get the right fit.

You need to sleep...thats the whole idea. If the large works best for you and you can keep your AHI low, forget the leaks

Sounds like the large is the one for you.
You do not want the pillow to go into the nostril.
It should rest on the outside.
I advise to give it more time.
I really like mine, It just disappears for me, in moments.

Re: Airfit P10, how to tell if I'm a medium or large?
What pressure settings are you using when starting out the night? Are you using any exhale relief? If so, what settings.
Depending on the settings and what you want to do...a small increase in the pressure might make the medium pillow be a lot more comfortable air movement wise.
Sounds like you are more to the medium size but you aren't comfortable in terms of air movement with the medium.
The air moves a little better with the large but it's a little bit too big.
Solution is to maybe try to get more air moving with the medium...or at least that is what I would do.

Re: Airfit P10, how to tell if I'm a medium or large?
My doctor controls a lot of my settings remotely, so I'm not sure on some of that. We recently set EPR to Ramp Only because I was having a lot of central apneas, and that seemed to alleviate them. I do notice though, that even when not hooked up to the hose, the medium is still harder to breathe in and out of. I know the machine (an Airsense 10 Autoset) can help me get more air in, but I wasn't sure about help with exhaling (other than the EPR).Pugsy wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2019 3:06 pmWhat pressure settings are you using when starting out the night? I've read in multiple places on the forum now about how the pillows aren't supposed to go up into the nostrils. Like, not at all? Or just a little bit? The videos show the silicone "rings" sitting around the opening to the nostril, but I can't tell if the part that rises above it (and leads to the smaller opening) goes up in, or if it's supposed to flatten out. I guess I've been trying to get it up into my nostrils, and it's usually that part that crinkles just a little and causes a leak if there's ever a shift. Am I doing that wrong?
Re: Airfit P10, how to tell if I'm a medium or large?
With nasal pillows absolutely nothing goes up inside the nostril that you can feel inside the nose.
The only part that is in the nostril is the teeny tiny tip of that inner cone and it sits up in the middle of nothing in terms of skin on the inside of your nose.
Nasal pillows rest gently on the outer part of the nostril....nothing inside that is touching anything is touching the inside of the nose anywhere and if it's trying to crawl up inside the nostril it's too small or too tight.
That scrunches the silicone of the pillow so it decreases the air volume available...makes it harder to adequately move air.
If you are using the ramp feature then you most likely are using a starting pressure of 4 cm...simply not enough air movement for a lot of people especially when using a nasal pillow that already has a small volume of space available as it is.

Sounds like I should switch back to medium and turn off the ramp then. I'll try that tonight.
Thank you!
Thank you!

I think you use the size that fits the best for you. I just recently got this mask and I have been using the medium size.
