Rope burns on neck

Post by ozarkjoe » Mon Jan 20, 2020 4:31 pm

Well, that is the only word I can think of. I wake up with a horrible burning sensation on my neck. I am afraid that if I loosen the straps then I won't have a tight seal when I sleep. Is there a trick to stop this from happening? Should I wrap something around my neck to protect it from the straps? Maybe wider straps would help? By the end of the day I recover and the pain is gone. However, if I wake up too early I can't fall back asleep due to the pain.

I use the ResMed Quattro Pro full face mask.

Strap pads and mask cushions from padacheek.com.

The mask should not be tight. The cushion should inflate to prevent leaks, looser is often better with fewer leaks than cranked down tight

Funny you should ask.... last night I asked myself why I wear those covers.... the answer was the same as yours.... I got a rash on my neck from the neck straps. I'm getting older than I want to think about. As recommended, order the strap covers from padacheek.com… it'll fix you right up. Been wearing those covers for 7 or 8 years and you can interchange them with different type head gears. Reasonably priced.

By the way.... you can cut up an old t-shirt for a makeshift strap cover until you receive the good ones in the mail.
