Need help understanding my home sleep test

Post by Babygoats91 » Thu Mar 20, 2025 4:45 am

Hi everyone. I'm completely new here and need some advice. I'm a 33/F
I had a home sleep test ordered because I have a scalloped tongue. ENT Dr said sometimes that is linked to having sleep apnea. I did the sleep test but I struggled with it. I have pretty bad medical anxiety and woke up quite a bit and struggled to sleep while doing it. I even got up and walked around to calm myself down at one point. That's not normal for me. I usually sleep thru the night and if I do wake up, I'm not remembering it. My sleep study says..
eAHI 1.3
Obstructive eAHI 1.1
Central eAHI 0.2
eRDI 4.2
It says at the bottom that frequent arousals are notes and may be consistent with UARS. I know I woke up a lot that night. It was a struggle with anxiety over the test.
The ENT said I have no apnea but do have UARS and his only recommendation is a balloon sinuplasty and turbinate reduction.

I took the same sleep study to a different ENT for a 2nd opinion. He strongly recommended not to do the balloon procedure and doesn't seem to belive anything was indicative of UARS. He also suggested a separate procedure to address nasal valve collapse and also turbinates. Which from what I'm seeing from my own research, treating nasal valve collapse can significantly help with UARS. He said that the first ENT I seen is a chain and pushes the balloon sinuplasty on people.

I feel stuck between the 2 opinions. Im leaning towards the 2nd opinion ENT. Everything he said to me made sense and felt right. But Id hate to choose him and then UARS go untreated. It's also my understanding that UARS can't be diagnosed with a home sleep test.

Anyone have any helpful input on my situation?
Im not sure how to add pictures to this but I do have pictures of my sleep test.

see this-viewtopic/t158560/How-to-post-images-for-review.html

it's rather long winded as it's meant to instruct on how to put specific images on the forum. but dig through it until you get to the part where you actually attach the images you want.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.
