Silk pillowcases
Silk pillowcases
Laying in bed last night settling in for another night of sleep with the machine I remembered about sleeping at a cottage several years ago where the pillowcases were made out of silk. It was very easy to turn the head and I noticed my hair was less messed up than usual in the morning.
Anyways, I got to thinking that a silk pillowcase would lead to less drag on the headgear around back of the head and perhaps in turn less leakage issues. Right now sometimes I notice the headgear drags on the regular pillowcase resulting in more tension on one side than the other... which usually results in a leak.
I may go on a hunt soon for a silk pillowcase locally.

First the pillowcase, perhaps later the sheets & jammies... you know... so the hose can slip slide around easily in case I bring it under the covers with me.
Yep... thats my excuse and I'm stickin' with it.

Hi Paul56 Tonight I'll be sleeping on my new pink silky satin pillowcase ! ! !
Couldn't find pink in pure silk - bought silky satin. Looks and feels fine to me.
I also changed the shape of my pillow for comfort.
Maybe I can post you a photo one day so you can see the shaped pillow.
Anyway, thanx for the 'silky pillowcase' idea

Re: Silk pillowcases
I use silk sheets and pillow cases and love them. They make moving in bed and turning over so much easier and they always have a cool feeling which I like. They are so slippery that if I am making the bed and I don't have the top sheet centered almost exactly it will slide of the bed to one side or the other. Once I get the bottom tucked in and the quilt on it they are fine. I'm sure I get a lot less hose drag.

Re: Silk pillowcases
This reminded me that I have a satin pillowcase that my hairdresser once recommended I use when I had my hair done. It really kept my hair in place, so I put it on my hubby's pillow the other night and I think it kept his headgear in place much better.

Re: Silk pillowcases
I understand the concept of silk sheets and comfort....however, here in Northern Wisconsin, there's another consideration, warmth.
While silk sheets might be slippery and comfy, there's nothing comfy about the sheets slipping off the bed and leaving you uncovered. That's why my bed has either fleece or flannel sheets between early November and mid April. With the thermostat down in the house to 60 degrees and outside temperatures already in the single digits overnight, silk is crazy. Flannel sheets, flannel jammies, down comforters are the best. And with programmable thermostats that bring the heat up before I have to get out of bed, I don't freeze when I get up.
Also, rainouts are not much of a problem, it's keeping the water in the humidifier from freezing that's the issue.

Re: Silk pillowcases
I'm with Jeff on this one.....Flannel only from Nov-march, and thermostat in mid 60's.
I use the Chiro-Flow pillow and LOVE it. Hope the hear the satin idea is a good fix for
some (in warmer climates).

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God. And remember - the richest person is not the one who has the most, but the one who needs the least.

I *do* have a set of black satin sheets here. Maybe I should pull those out?
The bad thing is I always seem to lose my pillow... it moves around constantly!
Re: Silk pillowcases
Hi Paul56
.....................Your question.............How did it work out?...I have yet to seek .....
My pink silky satin pillowcase works beautifully ! What I really like about this fabric is that
it doesn't crease and it is easy and 'smooth' to move your head around when on this pillow. If the fabric doesn't crease
then there is no creases on your FACE!
BUT I will still use cotton fabric for sheets. Slippery sheets won't work for me.
Good day - by the way - I visited VitalAire yesterday and Amanda showed me the Weinmann machine ! ? ! Oh, it
is beautiful. When you buy the machine you also get a mask.
(NO leak soft gel mask) Price ?....YES, very pricy - from R6000 - R11,500.
Ok - goodbye now - Marietjie - (I love colours!!!)
