Ramp Disabled

Post by SyCoREAPER » Wed Jul 10, 2024 3:39 pm

I have a secondhand Resmed Airsense 10 Auto (that I fully took apart and cleaned). Contrary to every thread I found about turning Ramp OFF, I cannot turn mine on. It's grayed out.

The only alteration I made out of privacy concerns but dont know why that would have an impact was I removed the modem.

Is there some Secret Menu (within Clinical or otherwise) to do some sort of Reset or is it possibly disabled by the DME/Doctor of the previous owner?

Secret Menu
Press the dial button and the home button at the same time. This will get you into the clinical menu and the settings.

Prior to the AirSense 10 and the proliferation of OTA configuration, providers "remotely" configured devices by:
  • Configure device using ResScan
  • Save config to SD Card
  • Give SD Card to patient
  • Patient INserted SD Card into device
  • Device is then updated according to the settings saved on the SD Card
ResScan actually has more configuration options than we have access to via the Clinician menu, including the ability to disable wetting ramp.

Does the Air 10 still have an SD Card in it?

I suspect what has been happening is:
  • The device got it's config from the SD Card
  • It then called home using the Modem which updated the config, allowing access to the Ramp
  • When you removed the modem, it could no longer call home to update the config, leaving the ramp feature in it's unavailable state.
What I would do is; remove SD Card if present, go into clinical mode, Restore Defaults, to set it back to factory, reconfigure.

Is it yours, or the fromer owner's?

No being as knowledgeable as Dog Slobber, if the SD card was not mine, I would format it in my computer.
Or, if you're concerned about which computer in has been in before, get a new one of your very own.

If it was my own SD card, and somehow got updated when the modem was still used by the APAP, I would format the card before reinserting it into the machine after I had set the machine to its factory setup.

Kind of off-topic, but also kind of relevant because many of us buy used machines and many of them come with the previous owners data.

I too, always reformat SD Cards from used machines. But with my curiosity I always load the data into OSCAR and have a peek.

@ChicagoGranny
As mentioned I am aware of the clinical menu. I was asking if there was a hidden menu within in it.

@Dog Slobber
I was hoping that's not l the case (Rescan) but hope it is as you mentioned not written to flash and only the SD but IRRC it didn't come with an SD card. Will try a factory reset before bed. We don't have anything to write to the machines, only read IE OSCAR right?

@ozij
This looks like one of my cards. I don't think the elderly lady I bought it from would have a UHS3 rated card in it.

@Dog Slobber and @chunkyfrog
If it had the original SD I would have probably only looked to see how a DMEs interpretation of sleep data and corresponding settings would have correlated to what I would have set based on OSCAR data.

Well that's peculiar. After popping the card out with the machine on (which I don't usually do), it's available.

Go figure.

Looks like, as stated in my first post, there is a ResScan created config file on the SD Card.

On the SD Card there should be a directory called Settings with some settings files in it. You can either delete that directory or format the SD Card and it won't bother you again.

Thats what's odd though. I didn't delete anything. Maybe it's if it cold boots with the card in?

I'll be taking a deeper look at the folders later but just thought it odd that removing the card and putting it back in re-enabled it.
