AirFit F20 front falling off?

Post by NoisyBreathing » Tue Jul 16, 2024 5:32 pm

I recently got an AirFit F20 to eliminate the mouth breathing I've been doing with just nasal pillows, but I've run into a weird problem. The hose attaches to a swivel which attaches to the front of the mask. This swivel has quick release connectors which make it fall off the front of the mask at the slightest touch. If I roll over even slightly wrong, it falls off and either wakes me up or worse I don't notice for hours.

This is what ends up falling off the front:

It's not the hose detaching from the connector.

Has anyone else encountered this? Is this mask just completely not suitable for side sleepers?

This mask gets high reviews. The problem you mentioned does not seem to appear in any of the 460 reviews at the bottom of this page - https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... k-headgear

Could your attachment have been damaged?

You might want to edit your subject line as I did above.

If it was damaged, it was before I even got it, as this has happened the entire time I've had it.

Do you hear the click when you connect the swivel to the mask?
Just for testing sake: try to connect / disconnect it before you connect the host to the swivel, see if you can get a firm connection that you can swivel about safely. If you can, repeat the movement a few time without the hose, and then try it with the hose connected.

If you can't get a firm connection after the mechanism clicks into place, no matter how much you try, then it must have been damaged.

It clicks into place just fine, and if I just attempt to pull it straight off the mask it stays attached just fine. However, if I rotate my hand at all while pulling, it immediately comes off.

It looks like one of the tabs meant to hold it on does not fully seat. I've emailed resmed about it, but I'm guessing they're going to tell me to contact where I bought it from.

Exactly. In the US, ResMed does not deal directly with users. There are probably regulations that won't permit it.

Not only ResMed and not only in the US. There are other companies too that will refer users of their merchandise to the local dealers.
