Advance supplies for extended vacation Medicare and Supplemetal
Advance supplies for extended vacation Medicare and Supplemetal
Medicare pays for my quarterly CPAP supplies, and an Anthem Supplemental pays for the 20% Medicare does not pay. I am leaving for an extended stay in Europe and will need my supplies before I return. Medicare will not approve supplies in advance and APRIA will not send me supplies in advance (unless I self pay) because Medicare will not approve. My doctor even wrote an authorization for pre-ordering. Medicare still will not approve. I can’t understand that. Does anyone else have this issue or a solution to the problem? Any recommendation would be much appreciated.

while we wait for the answer to your question, please pardon this question.
what quarterly CPAP supplies do you think you need?

You don't need quarterly supplies.
The DMEs have convinced you, you do. The insurance schedules is the minimum frequency that insurance will pay for supplies, *not* the frequency that they should be replace.
The next time you're due for replacements, order them, but don't use them. Due this twice, now you'll have a working set, and two sets of spares.
As far as you current situation, hopefully when your last set of items were replaced, you didn't throw out the old ones.
Take your items and spares, you'll be fine, masks, hoses, tanks, last *A LOT* longer than the insurance schedules.

Of course it doesn't include daily single use supplies.
Still true for the tank and hose.

Went to New Zeland about 1 1/2 years ago and my very nice DME gave me my supplies and took care of it when when it was time. Not going to tell you who my DME is.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 2:14 pmOf course it doesn't include daily single use supplies.
