CA Clusters - Need Help With Reading OSCAR Data

Post by livingbyproxy » Thu Feb 13, 2025 2:24 am

Hi, I've been having a lot of concerns lately about these clusters of CA events that I've been getting. I've already asked on a different website, searched a bunch of forums and sites, and have gone to a doctor about this issue. (The latter of which refused to look at anything but the stats for my weekly averages) I mostly want to know if they look to be concerning or like potential false positives.
I've been using this machine for a little over 3 months now and have been feeling worse at times. I'm using a flat pillow and, at one point, had used a cervical collar to make sure this wasn't a positional issue. I stopped using that because there wasn't much of a change in sleep quality. I also live in a very dry climate if that changes anything.
This is what the usual night has been looking like. On occasion, I'll have an AHI score of around 8, but that's as bad as it's gotten for the most part.

I'm not sure if the CA events are from being awake and not realizing it. Also, I rarely drink, but on the nights that I do have a drink (usually 4-5 hours before bed) I notice my CA events are reduced.
Recently, I've had to stop taking a medication (low dose trazadone) I was taking because of personal reasons I won't get into. This is what those nights have been looking like.

I know a lot of the events here are because I'm spending more time awake and trying to get back to sleep, but I figured it would help to include this.

I'm not sure if I could technically be getting “treatment emergent central apneas” after all this time, but if that looks like a possibility, I'll just keep pushing. Feel free to ask for anymore screenshots/info if that helps. I'm thinking about getting another sleep study if this looks at all concerning.

Without being able to zoom in, I'm guessing the clusters (after you have been in bed five hours or so) are transition apneas as you fall in and out of sleep. Click on the Events tab and then CA. Check the length of those apneas. They are probably very short.

I have come to prefer newish members use SleepHQ instead of OSCAR because SleepHQ allows us to zoom in.

Sorry about that. Imgur was being weird. Signed up for sleep hq and here are links to the two days that I had posted.

Also, while I'm here, I had a section this morning from 8:57am to 9:22am that OSCAR labeled as "Cheyne Stokes Respiration". Just want to double check if it's legitimate since I know that's super serious.

I think it's also important to note that this has never happened before.

Doesn't explain the first 3 months. Either way, you'll need to clarify your point

No prob.

IIWM I'd go all the way back to the beginning and determine exactly how much of your issues are sleep-related vs sleep-disordered breathing related.

Specifically, looking at the sleep study that got you started on this road.

I mean, if your guy
refused to look at anything but the stats for my weekly averages
did he use some arbitrary pAHI w/o correlating oximetry data and say "Here's a machine! Good luck!"

If small quantities of alcohol and trazadone (although you'll have to note if you slept better with trazadone and worse off it) allowed better sleep you might do better with an entirely different approach.
