Intential Leak or Unintentional Leak?

Post by aLLama » Mon May 26, 2025 4:08 pm

I’m trying a new mask. The F&P Evora Full Face. 1st night using it. Was/am also using the P10.

My Oscar data for the first night shows a pretty steady leak (see images). Is that the intentional leak from venting or unintentional leak I should be concerned about. When using the P10 it shows zero leaks most of the time, so I do not think it is my machine.

Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset (had it less than a year), BiPap, Pressure Min=8 Max=14, Mask setting Full Face. (I even tried the pillows setting, no real change in how much leak it was showing).

No noticeable leaks or air flow anywhere other than the front vents. I thought maybe the mask has a smaller leak I can’t find. Should I return the mask for a replacement? I checked the whole mask and hose and found no air flow, but there could be a small hole but would a small hole make that much of a leak?

It is almost a straight line and under the red line threshold, so I am guessing intentional leak but I am new so I am 100% not sure.

Here is my Oscar data for the whole night and for a 10 or so minute section.

Thanks for any input or advice!

I sing in my dreams a lot, it wasn’t until I was diagnosed with OSA I realized I wasn’t singing, I was trying to breathe and my brain knew that I breathe when I sing.

ResMed machines remove any intentional leak data PRIOR to reporting leak so that leak you see...... is all unintentional or excess leak.

So.....you have an unintentional leak from something that is causing a baseline low excess leak going on.
When I had that happen and my report looked like that I had a teeny tiny hole in the hose.

So it is likely the mask is not ok. It is brand new, so maybe a manufacturer defect. So if it were you, you would return the mask for a replacement?

Well.....there is considerable leak but it is within the machine's ability to compensate for that leak and if you are sleeping soundly through the leak and feeling good during the day then there may not be a serious problem.

Leak lines don't have to be 0.0.
These machines can compensate for quite a bit of excess leak.

So whether to abandon the mask or not is going to depends on results.....an ugly leak line alone isn't necessarily going to mean the mask won't work.

Good point, but this mask is warrantied, so replacing shouldn't cost me anything but shipping maybe. Wouldn't it be better to get one without an obvious leek?

EDIT* I used a different sized mask insert and it had way less leakage last night, so I am 99% sure it is the mask insert that has the leak issue. Going to call the vendor today and ask for a replacement for it. Thanks again for the help!
