age -- overweight -- sleep apnea

Post by Sleepy-me » Sat Sep 25, 2004 7:52 am

I'm 69 years young, 40 lbs over weight, retired for 6 years. Since I've retired and not been as active, could that be reason for my getting sleep apnea? When I worked I had no problem sleeping all night.

Are older people and over weight people the only ones that get sleep apnea??

Not all people who are overweight get sleep apenoa

Hello

Good question......" Are people who are overweight are the only ones who get sleep apeona?"

From a medical point of view. I am not over weight but I manage to get moderate to severe apenoa. I was holding my breath for 15 or more seconds at time reapeatly. I am a small person. not very tall or big but I managed to get OSA [Obstructive sleep Apeona] somehow......

My nose had be operated as well as CPAP therapy, Since after the operation I am sleepling like a baby. But I found out how dangerous having untreated sleep problems can be, Thank goodness for CPAP!!
Been on CPAP for a while.....I had moderate apenoa
