Go here and request the clinical/provider manual for the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her machine.
You will get a combo manual that explains all 4 models.
https://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap- ... tup-manual

The regular AutoSet has 2 modes of operation
CPAP fixed pressure mode and regular auto adjusting (apap) pressure mode.

The for Her AutoSet has 3 modes of operation
Cpap fixed mode
the regular auto adjusting mode like the regular AutoSet has
and a 3rd special auto adjusting mode labeled "for Her". It has a different auto adjusting algorithm that goes about things a little different. Explained in the manual. It's not necessarily something that only a woman could benefit from but ResMed promotes it for women but there's nothing in it that might not also help out a guy..

Looks like you are already using the Airsense 10 Autoset, why would you want/need another almost identical machine?

Get the ResMed AS 10 AutoSet for Her

It's (almost) identical to your unit, so you know how to configure it for him. It's got an extra option (for her mode) that you may or may not take advantage of. You will both have the advantage of being able to swap spare parts if you need them in a pinch, heated hose, humidifier tank.

Why go with an unfamiliar brand?

While the Soft response is a setting, not an operating mode, it really changes how the machine works. So you could almost say that the "for her" has 4 modes of operation, and the Autoset has 3. :)

I'm impressed that the OPs doctor made the "for her" recommendation.

Soft response is not a for Her only option.

Older AutoSets, both regular and for Her, didn't have it.

Newer AutoSets, both regular and for Her, have Soft Response.
