I just became compliant. But have a question
I was diagnosed with mild apnea. 12.4. Ive adapted to the machine real good. First I used the mask but switched to the Fisher Paykal nasal mask. I find this a lot more comfortable. I notice I sleep real solid for 5 to 6 hours. My events are down to under 2 most of the time. Do I need to put the mask back on for the last couple hours of sleep if I wake up. If I can get back to sleep ? I guess what I am saying its easier to fall back to sleep without using the mask again if I only have an hour two max anyway.

Absolutely, get used to it is being a great thing and you can't be too wide awake and too well slept. Sometimes I wake up at 6:30 leave the machine on put on Morning Joe and Steve for another 2 hours and I love it. Not only will you feel better when you wake up for towards the end of the day you'll have more energy.
What machine do you have?

Yes. Put the mask back on. It needs to be on whenever you sleep.Do I need to put the mask back on for the last couple hours of sleep if I wake up. If I can get back to sleep ? I guess what I am saying its easier to fall back to sleep without using the mask again if I only have an hour two max anyway.
Eventually this will be the more comfortable way to sleep. You'll get better rest from those two hours. You may be compliant, but you have more distance to go to be fully acclimated to the machine. Meanwhile, you are delaying your body getting fully acclimated.
Keep in mind AHI doesn't measure the actual duration of the apnea, it doesn't distinguish between apneas and hypopneas, it doesn't measure oxygen desaturation, or heart rate. In other words, you could be having 12 hypopneas that aren't affecting you much, or severe apneas that cause major changes in those physiological functions, and STILL score 12 on the scale and be considered to have mild apnea. And at 12, you're closing in on moderate apnea.

Most of my events are within the last few hours of sleep. Yes, you need to wear your mask. I'm not familiar with your mask, but can't you leave it on and just disconnect the hose for a bathroom break?
