Possible scam?
Possible scam?
I've noticed more and more frequently a person will join and post a problem regarding a humidifier running out of water, or burning plastic smell or something.
Sounds like someone trying to "build a case" by making more and more "occurrences".

I always thought it was people that fell asleep in science class, or maybe just smoked too much weed. It's a shame they will never have a clue about the basics of life in the real world, I think we were taught that in the 8th and 9th grade. Jim

I think it's Spammer(s), that Pugsy addressed in this topic.

He's trying to wear me out I guess this morning but it isn't going to work. I have been through the Chinese dude spammer so this one is like a gnat to me.
Bear with me as I fight this little battle. You may see a new post by someone and then it might go bye bye pretty quickly.
So don't be too quick to respond to a new account post just yet. If you do and he ends up being here to just sell something....the entire thread will be removed along with your response. So fair warning. I will remove all the spammers posts and not just the spam.

I've done it twice in the year I've had my machine. I don't post about it though. I prefer not to tell on myself when I do stupid things.

Re: Possible scam?
I don’t see any reason to think it is a scam. The Resmed Airsense/Aircurve series are very good machines. I replaced two Respironics machines with four Resmed machines for two people at two houses. I’m thrilled with how well they work.
However, they are not perfect, speaking both as a patient and as an engineer with almost 30 years of product development experience. They are not above criticism.
They have been on the market for what, five years or so now? They are being widely adopted by patients and doctors in the know. Some of the machines are getting old. It should be no surprise that some issues are turning up.

As for the water, I haven’t run one dry yet. I grudgingly accept that I discard a lot of distilled water. Oh well, it’s cheap. I’m sure it will happen though. I have a spare tank for that day.
However, it seems like an oversight that there’s no sensor to shut off the heat, or beep, if it is low on water with humidity enabled.

It wouldn't do me any good if there was an alarm for low water. With my hearing aids out, I would never hear it. In fact I doubt if I would hear it with my hearing aids in as most electronic alarms tend to be high pitched, and I have lost a lot of my high frequency hearing.ragtopcircus wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 7:27 pmHowever, it seems like an oversight that there’s no sensor to shut off the heat, or beep, if it is low on water with humidity enabled.

True. Turning off the heat is the most important part. Notification is a thornier topic.

Re: Possible scam?
I seem to run my tank dry on a pretty regular basis. If I sleep 10 hours or more, a full tank is gone in that time. I don't smell anything, but there will be a scorch mark on the bottom of the reservoir. It will stay until it's next vinegar soak.

I usually smell something "off" slightly before the tank goes dry.
It tends to wake me up--most unpleasantly.

Re: Possible scam?
Me too. Sometimes I wake up to the smell, add water, and go back to sleep, kicking myself for not filling the humidifier before turning on the CPAP.
