Respironics Pro II: Error Message/Alert

Post by OldSeaRock » Sat Oct 29, 2005 10:08 pm

Hello Gang,

I traveled to my father in laws home with my wife and took the BiPAP. Last night was horrible - for some odd reason my BiPAP didn't do the normal 14/10 thing last night; It blew 10 all night long.

I checked the manuals, could find NO information about anything.

So tonight I'm home. I hook the machine up hoping that it will work the normal 14/10 tonight and all I'm getting is an "Alert" or error message that reads E47.

I'll take it to the DME on Monday. I've checked the card, connections and everything under the sun that I can think of to check. It's all hooked up per the instructions, etc.

The manual is very little help.

If any of you folks here have a suggestion then please, let me know.

Thanks!

Mike

Well, the first night sans BiPAP is over. I've got a sore throat from snoring and my wife is scowling at me because she didn't get any sleep .

No clues here as to the error messages, eh? I've triple checked everything - the card is in right, I've unplugged the machine and plugged it back in... it seems to be "dead in the water". The message still says "ALERT" and E47.

Guess I'll find out what it means tomorrow at the DME. I WILL report back what I learn.

My wife asked to read the manual and to her surprise there was very little information to be gleaned regarding the "Alert".

I was searching all the old error code posts, but didn't find anything on Error 47. However, I did find this from johnnygoodman. Posted subject:E-24

We keep an in house list of Respironics Error Codes laying around our document system. When cpaptalk's user encyclopedia gets off the ground, we'll most likely post it there...
So maybe you could call cpap.com and they'll be able to look on their in-house list of Respironics Error Codes.

I don't suppose the error codes are the same for your BiPAP Pro 2 as they were for the old Respironics BiPAP Synchrony....

Just in case they are, click on the following and go to page 97:

Thanks guys!

Long story short... the machine is "buggy" and is being sent back to Respironics. My DME comes through like champions - gave me a very nice, clean lender machine (different brand) and told me that my Respironics has a 2 year warranty through my DME.. and that if they can't get it fixed then they'll replace it at no charge.

I hear the horror stories of "DME Hell" and all I can say is that my DME sure goes out of their way to treat me well.

DME had no clue as to the error messages, FWIW. Their whole thing was that it either works or it doesn't. Bless their hearts!

OSR,

I just wanted to check in and say hello. How is the therapy going otherwise? I was thinking of how we never see you on the site anymore and was hoping all was well.

I'm glad you have a nice DME. I like mine a lot, too. As a matter of fact, just saw him today to get a pulse oximeter. It's nice to have one that is on your side, rather than having one as your adversary.

Good luck and I hope it all works out for you.
