UNSATISFACTORY AIR HOSES
UNSATISFACTORY AIR HOSES
My standard air hose is stiff and has taken on the "set" of its original packing. I cannot get it to be flexible and quiet when it rubs on the nightstand. Is there a "soft" alternative? It's also too long.
Re: UNSATISFACTORY AIR HOSES
Get a SnuggleHose cover. It will make the hose quiet and soft. I highly suggest getting the one with a zipper. It's much easier to get on the hose.

True, but the cover will do nothing to remove "packaging kinks" which is the problem the OP has.Get a SnuggleHose cover. It will make the hose quiet and soft.
There are hoses that should not have packaging kinks in them. They are going to be of larger diameter, and you will need to change the hose setting on your machine.SLEEPYSENIOR wrote:Is there a "soft" alternative?
How long is it? This is an unusual complaint. The most common complaint is about being too short.SLEEPYSENIOR wrote:It's also too long.

Re: UNSATISFACTORY AIR HOSES
Using a hose hanger not only takes up the slack, but it takes hose weight off your face.
Not a bad combination, unless the younger cats invade the bedroom and play "Snake".
Some have used a hair dryer to try and coax the kinks out, but that is your choice/risk.

Re: UNSATISFACTORY AIR HOSES
Try soaking the hose in a bathtub with hot water until it relaxes then hang it up to dry hanging straight down with no bend. Just wrap a rubber band around one end and make a loop to attach to a towel rack or hook at least six feet from the floor.

Re: UNSATISFACTORY AIR HOSES
That was recommended to me. It did not work with ResMed slimline hoses. I left two hanging in the closet for a month, and the packaging kinks were still there.JimW159 wrote:Try soaking the hose in a bathtub with hot water until it relaxes then hang it up to dry hanging straight down with no bend.

Figure out how to make it stop rubbing on the nightstand...use a hose hanger.SLEEPYSENIOR wrote:My standard air hose is stiff and has taken on the "set" of its original packing. Re: UNSATISFACTORY AIR HOSES
I second the hose cover to quiet the rubbing. It also feels softer when it rubs you. The kinks will straighten out in time.SLEEPYSENIOR wrote:My standard air hose is stiff and has taken on the "set" of its original packing. If you want something to hang the hose on look for a 3M wire command strip hook. Google command strip 17067.
You can use string, a hair scrunchie, rubber band, or the like to run the hose thru then hang on the hook. Bend the hook with pliers to hold the string etc.
IMO command strip 17067 make the very best hose holder, are affordable, easy to pack for travel, reusable, and can be used almost anywhere. In fact, I have not seen a place where one can't be used.

Re: UNSATISFACTORY AIR HOSES
I forgot my hose hanger on a trip for work.
A pack of dollar store hair scrunchies and el cheapo duck tape did the trick.
Came off the hotel headboard slick as duck poop.

Re: UNSATISFACTORY AIR HOSES
Certainly duct tape can come in handy for many things when traveling, I also like to have painters, medical tape, string, and super glue. In fact, I have held up a command hook with painters tape here at home because I ran out of the command strips. The tape has been up for an extended time come to think about it.chunkyfrog wrote:I forgot my hose hanger on a trip for work.

That sounds like the crappy ones my husband gets from the VA. The best way to fix them is to just throw them away. Nothing helps those things.

Re: UNSATISFACTORY AIR HOSES
a while back, I bought a new upright freezer... and discovered it was making icicles at the top where the door seal wasn't fitting right. so, they sent out a repair lady with a new seal, only it was the first time she'd worked on this particular model, and the new seal was folded up in a little box, all crinkled and creased an blech.... wouldn't fit... so she calls back to the shop, and someone there with more experience on that model says "throw it in the clothes dryer for a few minutes, long enough for it to heat up a little, it'll soften up and be fine"...
she looked at me, I looked at her, I said "well... the dryer's right around the corner there"... 5 minutes later, the door seal looked perfect, went right into the freezer, and hasn't had a bit of trouble since.
I've sense used the same technique on stiff cpap hoses, just a couple minutes in the dryer, and they're softer and no more kinks.

Or lay it on the counter and warm it with a handheld hair dryer. Then immediately, stretch it a bit. Be careful not to melt it.PailRider wrote:I'm not saying you should try tossing the kinky hose in the dryer for a few minutes to soften it up
