Have anyone tried nomask.com

Post by May » Fri Dec 29, 2006 11:11 pm

I heard the ad on the radio. http://WWW.nomask.com. It is a interesting concept. Cost = $179. Expensive, but if it works, then it is worth the money.

Oh... I like this.
The CPAP PRO is shipped in a sealed see-through plastic package and may be returned unopened within 30-days of receipt. However, due to FDA health regulations, once the package is opened, the product cannot be returned for sanitary reasons. Because we use the CPAP PRO ourselves, we know that you will be happy with what the CPAP PRO can do for you. You will never look for another sleep apnea cure again.
Guess it must work!

I haven't seen any positive reviews except those on their site. I'll let the people that have actually tried it do the direct bashing though.

Fair enough...

Post by snorestats » Fri Dec 29, 2006 11:22 pm

But this isn't like a machine... it's a mask. It will work great for some and awful for others. It's just one of those products you can't test and return. So, $175 it steep bullet to bite.

What mainly keeps me from trying it is that I don't want anything pressing in any way on my teeth if at all possible.

And not all masks work for some people. It's quite probable that some just flat out don't work because of their design. Again, I don't have this one, so I can't comment directly, but remember that just because something's on the market doesn't mean that it works for people. It just means they're trying to sell it.

It took a while to get use to. Only complaint is the hoses crack easily. Very expensive to replace (about $40). It is noisey compared to most other masks. Works best with heated humidifier! No
Cpap Pro is Great But I love the cpap pro. I wish I would have been more gentle with it though. I had the delicate hoses anchored to the mouth piece too tight and developed a crack in the tube. I called cpap pro and found out that these two little dinky pieces of hose would cost $37.00 Talk about a rip off. These can't be worth more than 25 cents their cost. I shortened the hoses and cut new exhale holes and have been using it that way for a year now. I thought it would be easy to find some flexible tubing to create my own rigging but so far no luck. I see they have different pillows now also that look like they would work alot better than the ones that came with my unit two years ago. Cpap pro has engineered this mask with a design that makes it very hard to fix with generic parts. Good for the company but bad for us users that can't afford two 25 cent pieces of hose for $37.00 No

I've also used the CPAP-PRO for more than two years. I wish someone else offered this design -- the company is flaky to work with and you can't order replacement parts on line. But I love not having headger and not having leakage into my eyes. And when it's put together properly it's very quiet. The nose pillows now come with foam sleeves that fit over the outlets and quiet it down.

I tried the mask and nasal pillows using the elastic/velcro head gear. They were aweful as they allowed the mask or pillows to move around and blow air in my face waking we up. The pillows were better than the mask but still marginal.

I bought the CPAP-pro grudgingly due to the out of pocket cost. Had a lot of trouble getting used to it mostly with trying to trim excess mouthpiece filler. Once I got it trimmed and got accustomed to it I found it wonderful! I sleep with good REM sleep and for first time in 15+ years I remember dreaming. I still feel somewhat tired but should get more than the 6 hours sleep I get. It's worth every penny. I am not affiliated in any way I'm just a happy user!

CPAP PRO is a waste of my hard earned money!

I cannot handle the nasal air pressure, it gave me sore and dried out nasal passages even with a humidifer. It was loud. Inital mouth piece adjustment was difficult and had to try it more than 4 times. Finally once it felt kind of ok, the hard plastic was too hard and my whole upper teeth would hurt after using it. I tried it and only slept for 2 hours the first night and 3 the second before waking up and yanking that thing out of my mouth. Also, there is NO returning the device for a refund unless it is still in the sealed package. Yeah, try it without taking the CPAP PRO out of the package. NOT!

Thank you all for your replies. I got it. Masks work for one won't necessarily work for another. I was hoping for more positive responses because I like ti do without head gears. I will stay with my CL2 with direct seal. It is good enough for right now. Thank you all again for your responses. You guys are great!

I asked the same question about two years ago.

The end result I got was that the concept might be worthy, but it's poorly executed. I found a lot of people complaining the thing was cheaply made, easily broken, and really expensive to fix.

I did also find some people who said it was a godsend, and that they couldn't ever make their CPAP work with anything else.

So as others have said, your mileage may vary.

In the end, I opted AGAINST trying it, because it was (as many have noted) quite expensive for something that the bulk of the responders seemed to dislike, some quite strongly.

Liam, CPAP-amateur.

This cpap would never work for me.
My mouth would open as I sleep and the mouth piece holding it all together would fall out.
I would never be able to get used to anything shoved up my nose as I sleep.
I need a fullsize mask that covers my nose and mouth. It works.

Okay, this is a really old thread... but reading the comments, felt I had to reply.

I've been using my CPAP Pro now for about 3 years.... I'll tell you what I found as the positives AND negatives.... overall, I absolutely love it, and here's why.

1. I used to have to use a chin strap with any other mask I'd tried, and I've tried them all, nasal pillows, full face, hybrid, you name it, I tried it. Prior to CPAP Pro, a full face worked best for me without a chin strap, but full face masks really dried out my mouth leading to dental problems, and exerted pressure on my sinuses which would lead to headaches.... With CPAP Pro's mouthpiece, you subconsciously bite down on it in your sleep, thereby keeping your mouth closed, First time ever I've NOT needed a chin strap.
2. NO HEADGEAR! No more headaches from neoprene straps squeezing my cranium and masks pressing against my sinuses.
3. Easy on, easy off.... No battling with head gear and tightening straps and all that nonsense that had become a nightly ritual... Now its pop the mouthpiece in and off to sleep.
4. Freedom of movement... All other masks I tried wouldn't let me move around at night very well, (turn over and the pillow pushes the mask off and you have air leaks that wake you, etc.)... these problems, because of how its designed, simply don't happen with the CPAP pro.
5. Replacement parts (EVERY part is available, you can buy a whole mask, one part at a time if you want) are available at cpap pro parts dot com (CPP25 promo code at checkout gets 25% discount)

On the NEGATIVE side....

1. Yes the two small hoses on this are VERY fragile... I've ripped them a couple times.... yes they are about $30 to replace, which is steep compared to what they probably actually cost.... That being said.... I've "repaired" torn hoses simply by wrapping the damaged section with duct tape. It ain't pretty, but it gets the job done for way less than $30.00....
2. It takes a while to get everything adjusted how you want it.... lots of "fine tuning" if you will, because there are so many places the device spacings can be adjusted... but once I got everything "dialed in"... no issues.
3. Expense. Yes the CPAP Pro costs a little more than other masks, but reality is... all "medical equipment" is outrageously overpriced.... I personally felt the advantages outweighed the increased cost. I'm glad I tried it.

Could it be better quality as far as the hoses?... absolutely. Could it be lower priced?.... absolutely. Would I want to use anything elese? Absolutely NOT.

Oh... and now they offer a 30 day no risk trial.... pay shipping only, try it for 30 days... like it, they charge you the $149 for the mask... don't like it, get an RMA and return it and pay nothing further.

Exactly. I wouldn't use anything which relied on jaw clenching. Bad idea. Bad for the teeth, bad for the TMJs, etc.
