Resmed Airsense 11 release date?

Post by MeToo » Fri Dec 14, 2018 3:04 pm

The A10 was released in 2014 and is getting long in the tooth. Has anyone heard when Resmed's new line of machines might be out? And if so, what new features they are rumored to have?

Why do the manufacturers have to keep coming out with different models when the current ones do the same thing as the previous models.
From what I've read on the forum, the AirSense10s and the DreamStations are essentially the same as the S9s and the System Ones. And, for all intents and purposes, they still "blow air" just like the ones from a decade or two ago......and report data (assuming they're models that collect data).

My hope is that this next generation will have software integration with wearable technology like apple watch's AutoSleep App. At some point in the near future, I imagine they will have sensors in CPAP mask headbands that monitor brainwaves. This tech already exists (the headbands and software costs $200+ though) and could be added to mask headbands with the pap machine being the mothership that collects the data and uses it to create a better sleep algorithm. And who knows what other surprises their R&D dept has conjured up over the past 4-5 years.

Hopefully the improvements will be much greater than those from the S9 to the A10. The A10, while a good machine, wasn't worth the $ to upgrade for me. The jump from the S8-S9 was a biggie, though. Hopefully this next series will be a major step forward.

Not likely.
There is much they "could" do for the patients, but we are not very important to them.

Today I got a call from Lincare that it's time for a new machiine. I like them a lot after dealing with DMEs for 16 years. I'm doing well with my S9. and what I'm looking for in an Air sense v12 would be an easier way to hook up to larger batteries in case hurricane takes out Electric for 5 days Plus. Without using dehumidifier I bet one of these machines should be able to last seven or eight days on a bigger battery. Maybe you all have adapted to that now without ResMed but I wouldn't mind that.

If any of you have a link to those who have done that, I'd appreciate it.

It's not rocket surgery. 35ah scooter battery = about 5 days without humidity. Need 10 days? hook in another battery, want infinite use? get a solar panel to charge the battery.

New models of anything are prone to problems until people use them for a while and discover flaws. The flaws are usually fixed pretty quickly. I have been due for a machine also. I have been using S9 for almost 6 years. I have not decided whether to take a proven winner in the Airsense 10 wait until a new model has been out for a year. I'm leaning towards the Airsense 10.

I thought along the same line when I decided to get a new backup machine.
Just said (to myself) heck with it, the machine I have is doing the job I'll just buy another one.
No getting used to different machine and any other problems involved with that.
No regrets so far.

If they do come out with a much improved one I can not do without, I will buy it then.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next ResMed Model doesn't have an SD Card and/or no there is no way to get your data into OSCAR.

I guess that's why they don't change out models yearly, it takes time to find new flaws to put in the new models, and the tech to make them cheaper. I've been due for a new machine for 9 years, I'm still waiting for a machine that treats me as good as my 14 year old one, in treatment and reliability. Plus I don't want to go thru the hassle, and fill the landfills up. Jim

Wow 14 years old? Is that the Sullivan VPap, my first machine. Then two Respironics and the S8 and S9 BiLevel auto vpaps I got the S9 VPap in 2013 and I'm waiting for the next release.

Is there a link on here on how to hook up a solar charger
and make a socket out of a sealed battery or are you suggesting get UPS or two?

I had a meeting on Monday with the nurse who handles CPAP follow up at my neurologists. I asked about the 11 and she said the neurologist told her it would be available in August. I asked how it would be different from the 10 and she said "it's shorter" i.e. lower profile. I asked if there were any clinical updates and she said "not much."

I'm over five years in on my current machine and can get a new machine. She said to call her back when the new machines came out and she'd issue the RX to the DME.
I intend to let it come out and read some reviews before pulling the trigger. I've got a backup 10 with very few hours on it plus an AirMini I caught a good deal on, so I've got a lot of options to tide me over.

I've been extremely happy with the 10 and really can't think of much I'd like to see improved. A bigger reservoir has been mentioned. Some say the algorithm on the "for her" is better, then could be a nice included option. Quieter is always better. I'm more concerned what they might take away (OSCAR, access to clinical mode, etc.)

So, I'm in wait and see mode.
