CPAP on Grace and Frankie

Post by Janknitz » Fri Jan 25, 2019 4:02 pm

I just saw the very beginning of the episode last night (I think episode 7 of season 5) but the character Robert (played by Martin Sheen) gets a CPAP (ResMed Autoset with an Airfit FF mask). His husband Sol, played by Sam Waterson, made him get it after noticing that he stopped breathing for several seconds when snoring.

I didn't watch the whole episode yet to see how he does with it, but he was not very happy trying it on for the first time at the kitchen table.

I'm sure it will be amusing and funny, but I sort of hope that it will turn out to be a positive portrayal of CPAP and perhaps encourage some people who need it to try it.

My husband doesn't watch it but he keeps coming in while I'm watching it and saying "What is going on??? Why are all those people old? " By this season, it's just too hard to explain!

well, we might as well go whole hog in going off topic! i like the fact that they keep "finding" mature actresses for guest roles. marsha mason, for cryin' out loud!

i also like the fact that the "kids" actually have their own lives represented and we see how they relate to the moms and dads.

now, to bring this kind of back to topic, i notice a cpap, or at least mask, on You're the Worst. it was only shown twice (and the 20 somethings lead actors are in the bedroom A LOT!) but no mention of it is ever made. and in a way, i think that's kind of cool. it's just part of who the character is and no fuss is made.

I like it too when they just use CPAP matter of factly in a TV show or movie and not for comedic effect. Maybe we should have the "CPAP Awards" for best portrayal of CPAP in media.

Looking for something funny to watch, but when I search for Grace and Frankie, it doesn't find anything, is there another name for this series? Anybody got any suggestions for "mature" shows?
