Post by ybscc » Mon May 20, 2019 11:12 pm

Hi,

I ended up getting the DreamStation due to a big price difference. Last night I slept for the first time with it and have the following results. I don't feel rested at all. can someone please help?

First nights are often rough what with all the new stuff stuck on our face and all.
I see one wake up where you turned the machine off and then back on.
How many other wake ups do you think you had where you didn't turn the machine off?

I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.

If you want to try the Eclipse mask and want a special promo code to get a little off the price...send me a private message.

I probably woke up 2-3 times for a couple of minutes during the night. The mask didn't really bother me, I set the start pressure at 8, but those couple of times I woke up it seemed that I was fighting to breath, should I increase the start pressure?

Thanks!

If you had told me you felt like you hardly slept and was awakened a gazillion times (like I was on my first night  ) then I might lean towards the bulk of the ugliness as being awake stuff clouding the report.
But you didn't and pretty much everything reported on the Events graph relates to the airway either closing or trying to close.
The only exception is the CA/central apnea event.

Yes I would try a little more minimum pressure...maybe 9 instead of 8 and see how much things clear up and if that doesn't help then maybe 10 minimum.

For a first night report it's far from horrible but it could stand some improvement.

So I have been using the machine for the last few nights, not many comfortable issues and I've been using it for the full nights, my AHI has been around 1.5-1.6 until last night that I got a 3.38, No matter what the AHI says I am still tired... does these results say anything

i'm going to venture the guess that you need to raise your minimum pressure. this is based on this chart and it looks like you have a lot of snoring going on. raising the minimum pressure can eliminate those snores and give you better therapy.

good luck!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

How many times did you turn the machine off and back on again last night?

Looks like your machine is showing a lot more on/off sessions than you actually did.
I have seen this before...it's not recording properly...look at some of them...only 1 second.
When I have seen this before there seems to have been an inordinate number of VS2 snores also flagged.
I don't trust the data when I see this.
If you turned the machine off only once last night...there should only be 2 sessions....I see the one off/on but didn't see all those others...count up how many sessions...something is wrong with the data.
It's not OSCAR or SleepyHead doing it either. I am 99.99999999% sure if we used Encore it would show the same thing.

I wouldn't go changing the settings right now because I don't trust the data shown.

Where did you get the machine? How long have you had it?
The equipment supplier needs to be made aware of the fact that the machine isn't recording data correctly.
It should be dealt with under warranty as I assume it was a new machine.
Now if you bought it second hand....there still may be some options depending on just how old the machine is.

There's nothing that you can do yourself though. I have personally seen this sort of behavior several times here on the forum from various members along with a machine that I actually had in my possession (long story there) and eventually it started dropping data when it shouldn't.

BTW, looking at EncorePro it seems to report the correct sessions:

Hmmmm. The prior machines with the multiple session error had the problem confirmed when using Encore Pro.
So this is a new one for me.
Get SleepyHead 1.0. Beta and see what it shows.

Does Encore Pro also so the large amount of VS 2 snores???
