I'm looking for a sleep doctor who does telehealth (telemedicine) appointments and who can receive my CPAP machine's data upload from my DME. Can anyone recommend one that can bill United Healthcare insurance? I realize they might be 'out of network' but billing insurance is still desirable. The doctor's clinic could be headquartered in any US state according to my insurance company United Healthcare. The doctor should be a certified sleep specialist (with an M.D. degree) that DME's (since as Lincare) often upload CPAP data to.
I'm frustrated that my current sleep doctor won't do 'telehealth' appointments during this pandemic, so I am hoping to find a doctor who will. All I need is a 5 minute phone appointment to tell them I am doing fine on my CPAP, but my DME requires a doctor visit every year or so in order to keep paying for my supplies. I don't want to risk my health and my family's health going into a medical building right now since I have a couple of very high risk people in my family with underlying medical conditions. It seems ridiculous to have to go in person and expose my family to a COVID-19 infection risk just to talk about my sleep apnea for a few minutes. My sleep doctor never "examines" me or touches me (although his nurse might weigh me or take my BP, I can't recall), it is always just talking which could be done over the phone or video conference. I'm willing to pay out of network costs for my appointment in order to do it via phone or web conference.
Does anyone here use a remote telehealth CPAP doctor that they could recommend? I see some telehealth sleep doctors listed when I do a Google search but would ideally like to get a recommendation from someone here rather than just calling random providers.
Thanks in advance.
Any recommendations for a (US) remote telehealth (telemedicine) sleep doctor?

Your sleep doc is milking your insurance for the yearly fee, just like your DME is milking you for supplies you're probably going to need from now on. It's a system, of sorts, but it's neither ideal nor efficient.lrob123 wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 2:23 pm... In the US, any MD can write a script for CPAP and mask supplies. You can get one from your primary care physician. If you have a working relationship and you can show that you've been compliant, that you know what you need, and have a shopping list, most PCP's will likely be perfectly happy to help you get what you need.
In fact, CPAP.com provides a sample prescription pdf you can download so the doc of your choice can fill out a more-or-less permanent prescription that CPAP.com keeps on file. Once they have it, so long as your prescription is on file, they'll be able to send you what you need. I've been using the same prescription for about 10 years. Keep a scanned copy for your records in case you need it for future reference.
It's not like your diagnosis is going to magically disappear, and if you're compliant, insurance should have not trouble with the reimbursal, within the rules of your health care insurance program.

Re: Any recommendations for a (US) remote telehealth (telemedicine) sleep doctor?
Your DME can send a fax of your sleep data to any doctors office, all you need is a fax number. If my sleep doc wouldn’t give me a telemedicine appointment assuming my OSA was well treated, I would ask my PCP to check that box for the insurance. A PCP can manage your sleep apnea treatment if they are comfortable doing so. If your PCP won’t do it, I suggest you call around to other local docs or docs in neighboring cities, a good place to start is to search for in network docs on your insurance website.
Your doctor is dinosaur, in this difficult time telemedicine is becoming the norm it’s ridiculous that your doc refused you a telemedicine appointment. You should not have any problems finding a doc who will be willing to protect your health by giving you a tele appointment.

Missed last sentence, no not recommending.
Does it really matter?
