Swift Report

Post by 53now » Fri Nov 12, 2004 11:42 pm

I'm wondering if the new Swift Nasal Pillow System is as efficient as the Breeze or Adam Circuit system. It just doesn't seem as if I'm getting the same volume of air. Has anyone else experienced this ? Of course it's probably just me. I really like the Swift System. I've had to tweek on it a little but so far, so good.

Hi Rich/All

I tried the Swift last night and initially noticed the decreased air flow you describe. After a while I seemed to settle in and no longer noticed it.

I did get several more mouth leaks than normal during the night maybe because I didn't have the lower portion of my Activa pushing down on my upper lip. One leak even woke me and my wife up. She nudged me an said I was blowing on her! The woosh startled me too.

I really didn't notice the increased noise that many report. I noticed a faint whistle through the Pigtail. Maybe I was just too mesmerized by the amazing view you have while wearing the swift to notice. It's perfect for reading or watching TV. I got a stiff neck on election night watching the returns with my head cocked to one side with my Activa on. This mask is worth having just for those occasions.

I was concerned about the pillow irritating my "odd" left nare (see my poll) but so far so good. I did use the large pillow set to keep it out of my nose as rested gal suggests - good advice

All in all VERY GOOD! easy to put on and off, easy to adjust, and easy to wear.

One improvement I would suggest would be a longer pigtail hose. The coupling falls right on top of my head and is made of hard plastic. I used a second piece of velcro to clamp my 6ft hose to the other side of my head gear to leave some slack at the coupling so that it did not grind into the top of my head.

I'd like to thank Rich (53now) for generously offering to sell me his spare Swift at a very good price. He's a credit to the cpap world and also those of you less fortunate, who do not get the joy of straping an air hose to your face every night.

Any tips or tricks from you Swift users out there I'm all ears.
Sincerely,
