Vinegar/Water solution in humidifier and cleaning regime

I read of some using a mix of vinegar and water in their humidifier solution. This i suppose is being used for antibacterial properties. Could someone please provide more info. Is it helpful? Does it cut down on daily cleaning? Does one really need to clean "every" day? What ratio of vinegar to water? Are there references to look up? Does it create an unpleasant odor? any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

I have used vinegar and water (3 to 1) to clean my humidifier chamber it was only when I used tap water and it got a bit cloudy. Use it to clean it only and do not breathe it. Be sure and wash well with a soap and water solution to get rid of the smell. I use Johnsons Baby Shampoo and water to wash after viniger use. I find that if I use only distilled water it does not need cleaning. It stays chrystal clear. I top off every day and dump the chamber and rinse about once a month.

You are sleep deprived and mixing two things up - 1) What to put in your humidifier chamber to sleep with, and 2) what to clean your humidifer chamber with.

ANSWERS:

1) Distilled water goes in the chamber for sleeping
2) Vinegar and Water solution is used for cleaning the chamber, which happens when you are NOT sleeping

Please keep these separate, and soon you won't be sleep deprived anymore.
