Falling asleep on a train, and waking up poorly.

Post by Snuffle-nose » Sat Nov 27, 2004 3:20 am

Hi People

I happen to often fall asleep on the country trains on my way to work quite often, I seem to nod off and sort of seem to be able to wake myself up by snoring and gugling whist dozing, as I don't have my CPAP with me on the train whist going to work.

I often wake half awake or asleep whatever it seems to me. As I feel sleepy after waking and it takes a bit of effort to keep myself awake for at least 5 mins.....after that I slowly wake up. I had times when I almost I missed my stop! As in winter I am more sleepy and it takes longer to wake up fully.

I guess the embrassing thing is I snore loud whist sleeping without my CPAP. I wake with light head, takes me walking 1k to work to wake me up enough to arrive fully awake for work. I am not a big person, but I snored like a big person! [how embrassing! ]
Been on CPAP for a while.....I had moderate apenoa

Hi Snuffle,

How early do you have to catch the train and how long (in time, not distance) is the trip?

I would buy the biggest thermos I could find, fill it with coffee, take it on the train with you and drink it like its your job.

Hi Rested gal

I catch the train at 07:50 but inorder to catch I gotta wake up at 05:40 in the morning!!! I then catch the 06:20 train to the city but I fall alseep on the way to the city , takes half an hour to reach there.

Then arrive to catch my country train soon after eating breakfast at the station I board my train, then fall asleep again and often had to be waken by the conductor to puch my train ticket. But soon after I fall asleep again, I often riding over a hour to work.

But I feel crappy on waking do I ever!!! Had some near misses as I nearly miss my station sometimes. But I wake up about 10 mins - 5 min before reaching destination, talking about cuttin it close!!!!

Snuffle, I guess Airhog's coffee suggestion is as good as any. If you're not getting 7 or 8 hours of effective, refreshing sleep on your cpap each night, I can understand why you'd get sleepy on such a commute. Not a fun trip for you, I'm sure.
