installing encore pro on windows vista ultimate

Post by Gerryk » Thu Jun 25, 2009 8:31 am

I am trying to install encore pro version 1.8 which I believe is the latest version onto my new computer. The program begins installingthen I get the following error ( the sql express installer encountered an error! please contact customer support for assistance).

Any suggestions? Is there a new version out or a fix to install this on a vista ultimate machine?

Thanks Gerry

Gerry, I can't help much. I have been dreading going to Vista because of the problems getting it to run almost anything. Is your Vista set to run in 32 or 64 bit? On Ultimate I understand it gives you a choice. Several have gotten it to work on the 32 bit systems but 64 bit is next to impossible. Several have reported that they got it to work on the 64 bit systems but many time it quits after using it a couple of times. From what I have read I don't think I am capable of getting it to run on Vista at all. There has been so many problems with getting it to run I think the folks that know more than most have gotten tired of trying to help with so many problems and don't post as much anymore. You might do a search for Encore Pro and Vista and find some help there have been a lot of posts on this subject. Respirionics says it will not run on 64 bit systems and they have not written anything new yet.

I do have a copy of Respirionics instructions for installing Encore Pro on Vista if you would like to have a copy PM me youe e-mail and I will be glad to send it to you.

Jerry

I do have encore viewer but that failed to load. The card reader would not load the drivers. I do have the option to run either a 32 or 64 bit browser.

I'm successfuly running Encore Pro on Windows Vista Ultimate, but I've already forgotten how I got it running (gotta love that OSA memory loss).

I'm pretty sure it was something in this thread that let me get it installed: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=40234&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

I never successfully got Viewer to work on Vista 64 Ultimate.

I was unable to get it installed and runnning properly. I copied the files and installed that way then all that was installed was the program not the data portion. I should have left it at that and worked on getting the data portion installed. I will look at this again as soon as I get off the pain meds from the surgery.

Thanks for the help, but I am sure I will need some more in the near future.

I don't have Vista. I don't know if either of these things will help you. But here they are.
The first one is a link to the topic TSSleepy posted:

Encore Viewer on Windows 7 RC 64 bit - topic started by deerhound:

I have installed the Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Release Candidate on my computer and I was able to get Encoreviewer 1.0 to work properly using a new feature which call XP mode. XP mode is a built in virtual machine you can download to use with Windows 7 RC. The download includes a licensed copy of Windows XP 32 bit which runs as a virtual computer. After much playing around I was finally able to get the smart card reader to work and use Encoreviewer with the 64 bit OS. I am not sure what I did to get it all working right but it can be done.

The directions posted above work great. Also it's important to make sure that the Smart Card service is set to start automatically, that's the problem some of us were having with the card not working after a while.

Encore Pro and Encore Pro Analyzer also work great under Windows 7 64-Bit! Microsoft is offering a time-limited upgrade offer for Windows 7, it's only $49.99. You may be interested in purchasing it and it will ship when Windows 7 is released. Highly recommended, much better than Vista.
