hehehe... I play didgeridoo. Just started this past summer actually, but I have learned circular breathing and I can make it bark like a dingo and make kukaburra sounds and all kinds of neat stuff. I use the sound for meditation.
HOWEVER... I still snore like a freight train. Maybe I just need to practice more.

In that picture, the one on the left is most definitely not an aboriginal didgeridoo. That one is made from either yucca or agave stalk. The one on the right appears to be something other than eucalyptus as well.
Mine is made BY an aboriginal (named Naiuwa) from eucalyptus that's been hollowed out by termites. Or as the aussies call them.... white ants.
When you first start learning to play, it takes an incredible amount of air.... hehehe.... but once you get the hang of it, it uses FAR less air than you'd think. The trick is to keep the sound coming out constantly which means you breath in through your nose while out through your mouth.
Kinda like rubbing your belly and patting your head... only you're just learning what your arms are and you're not quite sure which is your belly and which is your head.

Re: Cure for Sleep Apnea
Has anyone practiced the didgeridoo and noticed improvement in their apnea condition? I'm bordeline, so fall in the category that could benefit if this stuff makes sense, so would be interested to find out more.
I looked up this video on circular breathing (explained in 10 min) which I plan to practice (I'm not musical, but a scientist so curious enough to give it a go just for fun).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcyY0tsGm6A
My take on it is that it should be called "reservoir breathing", not as cool but more apt as you blow your cheeks full of air and use that reservoir to breathe out while you breath in extra air through your nose. Not circular at all, but then "reservoir breathing" is not such a sexy mysterious terminology.
I'll be heading for a long break soon from the day job, focusing on some other aspects so may take it up during the next months.
Anyone had any luck in improving their symptoms?
Relevant study here: https://www.bmj.com/content/332/7536/266?

Right, that may answer my question lol. Are you borderline? The study I think refers to borderline cases.yardbird wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2005 10:21 am

Re: Cure for Sleep Apnea
Ok, may start a new one. I assume the didgeridoo topic is not dead.

Is the study rubbish? I don't work in the medical area, so hard to judge.
