Heated Tube and Machine Questions

Post by tqpannie » Sat Jan 05, 2013 9:41 pm

Hi All,
Hope everyone had a good holiday.

So I bought a humidifer with heated tube and I am having an issue.

The DME locked my machine hose type so I couldn't change it. So I have this tube system that I can't use and I can't figure out how to take the lock off. Don't get me wrong the humidifer works but I'm not getting the benefit of the heated tube.

Second-
What machine would you recommend as an additional machine. I'm thinking of buying one with my flexible spending. I'm on Bipap with a 22/15 pressure setting. I don't know if something that self adjusts the pressure and I do want to use either sleepyhead or Encore basic with the machine to interpret data.
I should add my prescription from my doctors office says CPAP/APAP.

You just need to go into the clinical menu setup and unlock the tube. Easy to do.
These instructions will get you into the menu...just look for tube lock and change it from on to off.

These instructions work on all the PR S1 machine. You will have a few different options in your menu but they are easy to identify.

To use the heated hose you also have to have the special power supply as well as the special lid for the humidifier.

With your pressure needs you are going to want to stick with a bilevel machine. The regular cpap/apap machines only go to 20 cm.
Price....the PR S1 BiPap is going to be more affordable unless you spot a sweet deal on the equivalent ResMed S9 VPAP.

I happen to own both the PR S1 BiPap Auto (not the 60 series but the one prior) along with the S9 VPAP Auto. Minor pros and cons with either but the PR S1 BiPap is going to less costly because there are more of them because the S9 VPAP is/was a bit newer and a whole lot more money to start with.

I haven't seen a downloadable pdf for the 60 series BiPap but I have the 50 series model on hand. Send me a Private message if you want it.
Even my 50 series BiPap had the tube lock thing.

You are going to need EncoreBasic software.
SleepyHead even with the patch is not yet compatible with the BiPap 60 series models...only works on the cpap/apap 60 series models.
