ResMed AirSense 10 No Cellular Connection

Post by scottkeen » Wed Jun 12, 2019 9:10 am

My AirSense 10 stopped transmitting maybe a year or more ago. The connection icon has a circle-with-a-line-through-it icon (not bars, not airplane) which indicates the cellular modem is on but not connecting.

It worked fine for a year, but then I stopped going to the sleep center doctor and stopped returning their calls. I'm wondering if they disabled the cellular modem connection? I've tried my AirSense in several locations, where I live in Virginia, when I'm traveling, and my Dad's house in Florida (he has an AirSense 10 too and it connects fine), but mine won't get a signal and just shows the circle-with-a-line-through-it icon.

Is this because I stopped doing business with the sleep center?

Your DME can't disable your modem

Your modem may have just stopped functioning or it might be an older system that used a now unsupported Cell system. ie CDMA.

Go into About and compare your Cell Type to that of your fathers.

So far, you seem to have done OK without it.

Other than making insurance related compliance easier to monitor, the modem serves no useful purpose. I don’t see the problem here.

And when you own your machine compliance isn't a factor, plus you can use Real Software, and get the Real Data, so you can tweak your treatment for the best results. Win, Win, and Win! Jim

Forget what Dog Slobber said. I am guessing he hasn't messed with a Cell Modem ever. If the configuration is wrong you will get the line circle. You should also get that if you are out of range of a tower. I am going to guess they had a configuration issue or error. If you unplug the modem or it died you wont see anything at all in the area.

Do as Dog Slobber said, go to “My Options”, scroll to the bottom for “About”, then scroll down until you see “Internal Modem”. If there is no data then the modem is gone, bereft of life, it is no more. If there is data then there should be something in the “Provider” field (ATT, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc). Also look at the signal level, which has to be above -110 dBm for reliable data transmission. And then look at “Type”, which should say 4G (if it says 3G then it may have been disabled by the providers where you tested).

Do the same with your fathers machine. Compare the results. Even better, take a photo of it and post it here.

Zomby thread, 2019, doesn't look in need of further responses to the OP.

But just to clarify for those who may have a similar concern and read

Older machines have 3G modems, newer ones have 4G.

Edited to add the word "further" to my warning. No criticism of Jlfinkels's response intended.

Fair enough mate. I should have read more closely, but was concerned that the response about cell configs needed an accurate response.

Not meant for you. Meant for others who may have considered responding. I though your response informative, and good and have edited my warning.

Although this is a zombie thread, it's still very relevant. Actually some might argue it's even more relevant now as carriers have been shutting down 3g in 2022.

In any event what was posted in 2019 was true then and still true now.
  • DME's can not disable the modem
  • The timing of the OP suggests he had an early Air10 with a CDMA modem, with CDMA being shutdown
  • It could be malfunctioning hardware
Why EROCK necro'd a zombie post to demonstrate he's an idiot is beyond me, ResMed Air10 modems aren't user or DME configurable.
