F&P Evora Full Face Mask

Post by ajsmith » Sun Jun 23, 2024 5:20 pm

I got the mask last week and had zero leaks each day. I washed it this weekend and now it is leaking badly. I have read the manual and watched videos on it. I will try to contact the medical device store tomorrow but often they don't answer the phone. I will use the nasal mask which leaks terribly and keeps me awake. Any suggestions? I find this mask extremely hard to put on and take off - and now leaks!

Have you been able to identify the position of the leak?

When you washed the mask, did you damage the Anti-Asphyxia Valve?

The Evora FF is what's known as a 'hybrid' mask, nasal with mouth covering. I find if I undo both side hooks, put the mask under my nose, then pull the headgear over, I can hook the side pieces and be going.

Just fit the mask without the headgear, you should be able to find the leak while holding the cushion to your face.

Tell me more about this valve, please. It might be the problem.

I don't believe the Evora FF has this valve. The Vitera has one.

Examine where the small tube snaps onto the mask spigot.

There is flexible flap located in the mask frame right above where the hose connects. This is the antiaphyxiation valve.

Yep.

The flap needs to close when the circuit is pressurized. When the machine is not running, the flap opens to prevent CO2 buildup in the mask.

Well, made me look! Yep, mine has one. It's hidden behind the oval hose connection.

Thanks for your gentle correction.

I fixed it. It was the little flexible anti-asphyxiation valve that is located between the mask and the tube coming out of the mask. Somehow it had gotten misaligned. No leaks now but, for me, an uncomfortable mask.
