Absolutely. With sleep apnea, you have to think "outside the box." Know what I mean? I am currently using the Aveo with the Pilairo, but I have had to fashion a "stabilizer" for the Aveo. I got an Ace bandage (the one with the clips and nonstick material (I don't use the clips)) and sewed it together so that it's just snug enough to wrap around the Aveo to the back of my neck (chinstrap idea from DreamStalker), and I cut a small slit in it where the Aveo fits thru. Then I stuff a piece of nylon stocking under the bandage next to one corner of the Aveo (the side I think is most likely to leak (idea from MagsterMile). I used an oral appliance (expensive and dentist made) for over a year and felt my teeth were moving. I wished I had known about and gone with the Aveo to begin with. I am very happy currently with my set up, but then again I will go to the "ends of the earth" to get the AHI under 1.0 and at a relatively low pressure because I am a desperate woman. Right now my pressure is at 8 and I'm feeling my sleep apnea solution is a miracle for me. Hope this helps.peterjamesmcgough@Gmail.com wrote:hi - just checking on the mouth breathing issue , is it possible to mouth breathe with the Aveo TSD ? thanks - pete

Re: My experience with AveoTSD
I've been using this device for about 4 years and now I'm throwing it away. Off and on it has irritated my gums and caused numerous mouth ulcers. Now it has given me a gum infection and I need anti-biotic treatment. Has anyone else had problems with their gums using this thing?
Re: My experience with AveoTSD
Hi I got a question about the AveoTSD, does the suction last all night, of you have to replace the device often during the night.
I m asking that, cause I m using another tong device, which work well for me when the suction hold. But during the night, with saliva and tong movement, the suction doesnt hold, and then it s bad and I wake up and have to replace.
I m interested to try the AveoTSD, but I m would to know if the device and suction hold, thank.

Re: My experience with AveoTSD
I have mild apnea with snoring - which put my wife's sleep in jeopardy and my life also. I tried the AVEO TSD and found it to be successful in curing my snoring and apnea. As one poster mentioned - my dreams have become very vivid - and I was rarely dreaming before. Before using the AVEO TSD - I had my deviated septum fixed - I had a severe deviation that made breathing more shallow. However - I still had snoring. The combination of the fixed septum and the AVEO TSD keeping my tongue from slumping into my airway - seems to have done the trick. Additionally - if I drank any wine or alcohol my snoring would increasing and so would the occurrence of apneas. Now with the Aveo TSD I can enjoy a couple of glasses of wine and sleep like a baby with no snoring.
For the person asking if the suction works all night - I think there is some adjusting to the proper suction. At first I pushed my tongue into the device too deeply and woke up with a sore tongue. I began to test the placement of my tongue in the device and would tug on the device to see how firmly it had grasped my tongue. Occasionally, the device falls off in the night and I just re-adjust and sleep through the night. I did not get my tongue sized and did not know they there were different sizes of AVEO TSD's - until I read a blog somewhere. They ship you the medium size which fits most people and it seems to be a good fit.
Some small side effects for me - was a little pressure on my front teeth but I have big front teeth. Also occasionally my tongue with feel a little numb but nothing to be alarmed about.
I now breathe mostly if not all though my nose and I could breathe through the mouth but it seems natural and comfortable through my nose.
this Device was a God send. My wife will not let me go to sleep without it and she gets a great sleep as well now.
For me - it has been all good.

Re: My experience with AveoTSD
I recently got an aveoTSD. I've tried it only for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, and even this short time causes my tongue to hurt on top of my tongue where my teeth bite down and cause pressure (it's still sore the following day). I have a 100% overbite. Does anyone else have this problem? Are there any modifications that can be made to solve this problem? I have non-snoring sleep apnea, which has caused my Right Ventricle to become dilated. I cannot use CPAP. I use oxygen at night, but, if I could successfully use the aveoTSD to hold my airway open, then I wouldn't need the oxygen. Also, I have TMJ and malocclusion.

Quack device, with no clinical proof of efficacy. I pity you.

I also clench my teeth and purchased the aveo tsd for that reason alone. I'm worried that it will open my bite from having the tongue in there all night. Do you agree? Have you noticed any bite changes?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Jeez! Why??? This device is not for preventing teeth grinding.Tivolidane wrote:I also clench my teeth and purchased the aveo tsd for that reason alone.
You can find much cheaper devices that are designed to protect your teeth from grinding. Here are some example of boil-n-bite types - http://www.walmart.com/search/?query=mouth+guard
Or, you can get a nice custom fit device from a dentist for about $350.
