10 foot hose vs 6 foot hose

Post by davep700 » Sat Mar 05, 2016 2:28 pm

Is there any functional difference noted between a 10 ft hose and a 6 ft hose - I assume if there is Is there is slightly reduced pressure due to the added length the blower compensates.

Also strange that to reach their bed some people first think to get a longer hose rather than an electrical extension cord.

"No" and "No".
It's been discussed many times before on the forum and the answer has always been there are no differences.

lower delivered pressure due to higher flow resistance in the longer hose.

Resmed bilevels have a '3 meter' setting for hose type, so they can deliver more accurate pressure.

I've got a 6 foot wide bed, it's not strange at all. the only way your idea would work is if I hung the machine on a chain over the bed....

now THAT'S what I'd call STRANGE

I have used a 10ft hose for many years. I used the heated hose when I got my new machine Oct of 2014, but went back to the 10ft hose in mid Dec couple months later.

Not really sure why I would want the cpap closer to me. Like the longer hose.

Here are some of the discussions from the past (some more lengthier than others).

"dsm" did quite a few tests regarding this subject.
However, the accuracy of the machines comes into effect, too.

Here are a small list of some of the manufacturers tolerances from several generations of machines (typically available in the "User Guide" manuals. As you can see, there's still about a +/- .5cm tolerance with most of them.

I got the 10 foot hose because I have a queen sized bed all to myself, and I am someone who is....an active sleeper, we'll put it that way.

I pulled my whole machine assembly over about once every 3 days at first, upside down end result. Waking up with a nose hose full of water is pretty disorienting. Got a 10 foot hose, not been a problem since.

It doesn't much matter if I put the cpap on one side or the other of the bed...I roll around enough that I and up roaming the whole bed overnight. Tried that first. I just need the longer hose.

I guess I am the type of person the longer hose is made for

a couple of observations from the thread that have nothing to do with hose length... more about 'the more things change, the more things stay the same':

1) there were those bitching out others for how the posts were worded, and people bitching about the bitchers.
2) back then (2007) they hated apria.
