Dobell's Solution
Dobell's Solution
Does anyone use this for nasal rinses? I've been trying to find it, but there don't seem to be any suppliers on Amazon. With some problems this summer, I could sure use some relief.

NeilMed Sinus Rinse is good stuff. Walgreens usually stocks it or you can order online. I have been using this product for over 10 years. It was recommended by my ENT physician. You can get a Netipot or use a bottle that they offer. They have kits you can purchase. I rinse my sinuses once in the morning and always after mowing the lawn. I have allergies most of my life and this has helped me a lot. Since I started the CPAP therapy I will rinse a couple hours before bedtime as well.

That's just salt and water. I use a generic salt and water rinse in a Neti pot for minor nasal irritation.vader06 wrote:NeilMed Sinus Rinse is good stuff.
Dobell's is a stronger product with more than salt in it. It works better than a salt rinse when congestion or cough is heavy. My father started using it when he was in the military. Our family has used it for years. You can find the formula on the internet.
Thank you, Gasper. I haven't used it for years, but I need it now.Gasper62 wrote:Try this link: http://www.qualityshop24-7.com/host/hum ... id587.html

You use a mouthwash/gargle as a nasal rinse?

It is an old treatment that was commonly used as a nasal rinse and a gargle for catarrh. Some people still swear by it.LSAT wrote:You use a mouthwash/gargle as a nasal rinse?

Re: Dobell's Solution
If I remember correctly, you mix it one part to five parts water for nasal rinse and throat gargle. So, it is not so expensive.
It once was cheap. I think the low volume this days has driven up the costs. Back in the forties, pharmacists would compound it and put it in very small bottles (one ounce?) for temporary relief when one had a cold or sore throat.
