Crease in head from strap.

Post by jmaulz » Thu Oct 20, 2011 10:58 am

I use either the quattro fx ffm or swift lt nasal mask. The strap that goes over my head when using the quattro fx ffm leaves a crease in my head after a few days, so I switch to the swift lt nasal mask with deluxe (white 2") chin strap. The deluxe chin strap seems to cause hair thinning. Anyone else having these issues? (I'm not sure how to list my equipment under my post.)
Thanks!

Here's how to list your equipment in your profile.
wiki/index.php/Registering_Equipment_in_User_Profile

For strap indentation... you can make a little cover for it out of some fleece if you are handy and if not Padacheek has some nice ones already made. Quite comfy. Covers for straps, top and bottom, forehead pieces and all sorts of comfort items.

If the indent goes over the top of your head it will be much easier to balance the sword on your head when you do your belly dancing.

I have a very definite groove in my scalp where the back top strap goes. It feels like more than a soft tissue dent. It has been there for at least three years out of the four that I've been using this mask strap. Good news is that my strap doesn't slip any more.

You are not wrong. I have been using one of those under-the-nose pillow masks for about a year. I had to tighten the straps a lot to keep it from blowing in my eyes. Now I have noticed that as I run my hands across my head, as to pull my hair back, there is a crease in my cranium from ear to ear, so deep that my hands sort of "fall in' momentarily.

Geezer...You are responding to a 5 year old post...Obviously you are pulling the mask too tight.

Hi FiddlinGeezer,

You opened up another old thread today about the same issue. It's obviously of concern to you. I have put up a reply to you in that other thread.

Try padding--layers of soft fleece, "minky" fleece, etc.
If any marks remain, wear them as a symbol of tenacity;
That you refuse to let vanity stand in the way of good health.
Rock on!

Re: Crease in head from strap; try a cushion

Try putting a cushion between the strap and your skin. I recommend a baby sock.
