I just refill all week, then dump the water and clean the humidifier on Saturday

I top off the tank every 2 nights and in the 3 years I have been using this machine, I may have cleaned the tank 3-4 times. Distilled water keeps mine Crystal clear.

If you use tap water, dumping water and replacing every night will reduce the crystalline buildup. Then you won't have to use the vinegar as often to clean the crystallized deposits.
If using distilled, you shouldn't need to dump, except to clean.

Re: Water in Machine ~ Do you change every night?
The very first morning after my first night of therapy, I dumped my water......and thought.......what a waste......and never did that again.
I finally came up with a routine of dumping and rinsing my tank when I started a new gallon of distilled, which is about 2 1/2 - 3 months. I use cool, no heat, "passover" humidification all year round so that's about how long a gallon of distilled lasts me. Occasionally, I use some Brita filtered water to stretch out the distilled.
I've only taken my HH tank apart a couple of times in 12 years to "clean" it. (which wasn't really necessary)

Dump the tank here every morning, very little water left at that point, and let it air dry. By the evening again it's been dry for a few hours, put enough water in it for the night again. Around here, too much mold and mildew to leave anything wet all the time. Before I did the daily emptying, I noticed that there was some black mold on the plastic top of the tank during the weekly cleanings. Now I never see that, so I'm happier. I also don't feel compelled to do weekly cleaning, since the tank stays pretty clean (as far as I can see *smile*).

In the winter, I top off until I wash the thing. In the summer, I dump daily. I get that pink slime stuff once it warms up. I use distilled water.

I use distilled water and always top off. I've never cleaned my humidifier chamber once.
