Re: using dehumidifier distilled water in cpap
There's no way on god's green earth I would use water out of dehumidifier. I say so because I'm thinking about the dehumidifier I ran in my grandparent's basement in Georgia and thinking about the nasty stuff I had to clean out of the collection bucket.
Who knows what is growing on those coils that the water condenses on.
They make table top distillers that boil water into steam for distilled water.

Ditto! The distilled water must be clean & pure.

YUCK!!!
Ditto the previous posts. In my (unscientific) opinion, the water from dehumidifiers is NOT "distilled".

Walgreens sells distilled water for .97 gal...often its BOGO. A gallon lasts me a month.

Water from a dehumidifier is about is not distilled water. Distilled water is boiled and condensed to remove impurities.openchestman1 wrote:iS IT OKAY TO USE distilled water out a basement dehumidifier in a cpap?

Water from a dehumidifier shouldn't be used for anything, except, perhaps, watering the lawn. It shouldn't even be used on edible plants.openchestman1 wrote:iS IT OKAY TO USE distilled water out a basement dehumidifier in a cpap?

Dehumidifiers are commonly used in basements to minimize mold, so if you put a dehumidifier in a musty basement you are probably condensing more than water- suspended mold spores, and anything else. Plus, the water and dissolved oxygen will likely corrode the metal condenser over time, as well."

Try Googling the above quote and you'll see where I got it from. There is plenty of other information agreeing.

FALSE, It is distilled like RAIN, it's not sterile by boiling. Plus it contains dirt and other crap. Feel to be super cheap, it's only your body. Stumbled across this thread. Glad I did, as I have been saving water from my dehumidifier. It now gets dumped on the garden. Off to Walgreens.

If you don't have the cash or the ability to get distilled water from the grocery store, use water from the tap. Periodically, you will need to demineralize the tank using vinegar, but otherwise, it's perfectly fine and a MUCH better choice than water from a dehumidifier. I've only used that water for indoor plants and it's not been a problem.
I recognize that not everybody can be toting distilled water home with them due to handicap, lack of transport, cash and other considerations. It just saves you on cleaning.

More precisely, it is evaporated and condensed.HenryR wrote: Distilled water is boiled and condensed to remove impurities.
