I just bought a CMS 50 D+ from Amazon (HUGECARE CMS 50D+ Blue Finger Pulse Oximeter with USB and Software Sold by: HugeCare for Sports $31.99).
I had a heck of a time downloading the data to my computer. Checking with the Pulseoxstore web site recommended by Pugsy got me started on a solution. They have downloading information in English instead of the pitiful Chinese to English translation in the manual that comes with the unit. Unfortunately the latest software version on the web site is V2.4 and software that came with mine is V3.0.4. Similar but the download procedure is slightly different since the boxes that open are not the same.
This is what works for me:
When finished recording press the power button long enough to open the settings menu, turn Recording off and press Exit.
Plug USB cable provided with unit into computer and unit.
Turn unit on and put on finger to keep it from turning off.
Start SpO2 Assistant
Click icon that portrays a connector.
When the popup shows that the unit has been found, click on connect.
When the screen starts displaying the data from the unit, go to FILE and click on “Device Stored Data”
A popup labeled "Device Stored Data" will come up. Click on the box with” User Index” on the left then click on "Receive Data".
After the data are received a notification will pop up saying "Finish receiving the data". That should say “Finished receiving the data".
Click OK.
Remove unit from finger and unplug.
After the notification saying "Device not responding" shows up, click on Home/File/Open File or the icon portraying a file folder. Click on the file and view the data.
For some reason the data files that the program says it stores in "C:\Program Files (x86)\SpO2 Assistant V3.0.4\Data" only show in the program but if you use File Explorer to look at them they don't.
Sleepyhead sees them but says it can't parse them. Another member says saving the files to another folder will let them be seen and used by Sleepyhead but I haven't tried that. I was able to use the "connect to the device" option in Sleepyhead to load them.

Re: CMS 50D+ download info
First, I have the CMS 550F; second my SPO2 software is version 2.7; third my pulse ox is version 3.7.
I think part of the problem begins when you "Turn unit on and put on finger to keep it from turning off." At least for me pressing exit does not turn off the pulse ox and my device does not turn off automatically. I believe you think it is off because the lighting for the settings menu is very low and it may appear off. When I enter the settings menu, the light level will change as I hold down the button at the first menu choice - getting brighter or darker. I suggest that you do not put your finger in the unit because that signals the system that you are performing "real time" data collection. I follow the same steps you identified WITH MY FINDER OUT OF THE UNIT. After I click OK then I click on FILE and from the drop down menu I click on QUERY USER FILE. It opens a menu with file names and I select the file for the previous night. The file name, for me, is the last one at the bottom of the list and its name is user_1_1_20181023######.SpO2 - the ## are numbers that represent the hour and minutes of the data while 20181023 represented Oct 23 - remember this is the start of the file and if you start recording after midnight the date will be when you wake up. Also the date of the file in file explorer will be the date you wake up. I select the file I want and when asked if I want to name it - I leave it blank. The next thing I see is the strip chart report. Your can look at reports from any day by selecting the appropriate file. Three files are stored for each data set- a 1KB text file; a SPO2 file tens of KB; and a comma separated file in the hundreds of KB - each of the file names begins user_1_1_ - There are other files that begin with the name if you choose save after download. I have found no use for these and they are clutter. Some of the .csv files have the word "wave" at the end - I haven't the foggiest idea. The other contains the pulse and ox date for each second of the recording (again the files beginning with user). The location of these files is best found by writing down the exact name of the file as you save it and the search for the file. I don't remember how I set mine up or if the program did it for me.
Good luck

After I do the following "When finished recording press the power button long enough to open the settings menu, turn Recording off and press Exit." At that point the unit will turn off automatically. If recording is not switched to OFF then what you describe will happen.
I have used it for a couple of nights now and the downloading goes smoothly.
I don't understand why Contek doesn't get a translator and publish a decent manual on how to use the unit. The manual for the one I bought several years ago was just as bad, (either the non replaceable battery or the oled display died so I had to get a new one)

Sounds like you are able to record and use the data you want; that is good.
