Does anyone have a Gravity Blanket? I just ordered one and can't wait to get it.

My husband, among others, loves the feel of a weighted blanket.
I notice the price range is immense!
Hope you shopped around.

I sleep on my anti-gravity blanket, it's like floating on a cloud. I had to buy a Gravity blanket for the top one just to keep from floating away. Jim

Jim, Make sure to keep your bedroom plenty warm. Otherwise, your wife might hog the gravity blanket, and you would get raptured.

Not a chance, she likes it hot, even runs a electric blanket year around, I have my own room window A/C runs at 63 degrees all year, room heat off in winter door closed. Jim

This is the place I'll be getting my weighted blanket from hopefully before the end of next year. They are all a bit pricey but the company above has an actual show room were I'll be able to stop by and try out some of their options. I'm looking at the 30 to 40 pound queen size. Going to fold it in half with all of it on me.

Looking forward to getting it some day.

My wife got a 22 pound Yorkville blanket last winter and loves it. The only issue is that it feels like sand inside, so whenever the cats jump on it they immediately start scritching about. They just dig at it and paw at it. Haven't actually tried to "use" it like a litterbox thankfully, but I'm afraid one of these days they're going to snag the cover and tear a small hole in it that starts leaking glass beads.

Hmmmm I hadn't thought about that... we have 4 cats and at night we're the cat beds... us and what ever blankets we happen to be using. So far non of our furry children like tearing up our blankets and thankfully they leave my PAP hose and mask alone. I can't say the same for our carpet but I digress...

I know sensacalm does an option I'm getting were they add snaps for a duvet cover. I already have a cover I love that I got from IKEA so I can just position the blanket inside the cover and add snaps and I'm done. If they shred something it's more likely to be the cover and not to 300.00+ dollar blanket.

I promise I'm not trying to sell sensacalm. Lol. They just sold me because they have a show room I can try stuff in and they will custome make me what I want even let me pic fabrics not on their website, for not much more then normal cost. Like a heavy denim on one side and reinforced soft fleece on the other etc...

The company is in Tennessee about an hour from my inlaws so I can afford to stop by.

The beeds inside the blankets are usualy a type of plastic. I think glass would be even heavier. I know some people have used smooth small diameter aquarium gravel for their own DIY blankets.

Also heard of people using rice or beans but that ends in disaster because you can't wash it. Dont want anything organic as a filler.

Best of luck with everyone's blanket purchase and or searches. I'm interested in hearing about others experiences with theirs...

Restwell,
Gryphon

Do Weighted Blankets Really Ease Sleeplessness?
Weighted blankets are being hyped as an insomnia cure. But do they work?

I got a Weighted Blanket a few weeks ago and I love it. It helps me get to sleep and feels nice. I got the Zonli brand on Amazon. Whichever brand you get, make sure to get one that's about 10% of your weight. I also recommend getting a duvet cover for it (they make ones especially for weighted blankets) so you don't have to try to put the heavy blanket in your washing machine and dryer.

Minimum weight for me is going to be 30lb. But I'm still wondering if I want to go with the max of 40lb. I won't know for sure till I go to the weighted blanket company and try the weights out. The other issue is, the blanket I get is going to be "queen" size but the other half of it is going to be flipped over on top of me as well because my wife most likely won't be sleeping under it.

For me it's a sleep aid and a anxiety aid for autistic spectrum disorder. I love lots of weight on me. It has a profound calming effect.

I've been trying to get a blanket for years but they are very expensive... but for me DIY was just not practical.

Just wondering if any of the users sleep on their back? If so, what about your feet?

I do and will say I dont like weight pressing down on my toes, if that is what you're thinking might be an issue. Lots of weight everywhere else is fine.

I'm thinking I'd have just my toes poking out from under the weighted blanket, maybe a supper soft quilt just to keep my feet/toes warm on really cold nights.
