I'm so happy.
Even if the mask is not for me, all this enthusiasm tickles me immensely.

I agree. A new mask is exciting to me too. I have loved the Dreamwear nasal mask for a long time now, but am looking forward to the new Resmed mask, as it does look like it improves on the Dreamwear. I will report after I get it and try it out. Hope the small size frame fits, as that is what the company recommends for women.

Looks like a good one to try. ResMed brags about how quiet it is, 24dB compared to the AirFit P10 at 21dB. I would also be looking for diffused venting, as well as not leaking for a side sleeper. I'll keep an eye on the reviews, and if it seems like a good bet, will give it a try. Nice to have new masks coming along. Really really tired of the venting on the Swift FX, and would love to find an alternative that had decent headgear like the Swift FX has.
Turns out that the Dreamwear nasal pillow mask is going back. The vent at the nose pillows is ridiculously loud, terrible design, and I don't see why it's my responsibility to fix that at the moment. I did consider just plugging it up since there's another vent as well, but haven't found the right materials to do so. Incredible to me that such a loud mask would even be made at this point. They didn't even try to use a fine array of holes to diffuse the venting, it's a friggin' single slot. I just don't know who thought that was a good idea.
Anyways, the AirFit N30i looks a lot like the Dreamwear, so I'm hoping that they've improved on the original nasal version. I also found the original Dreamwear too loud to put up with (but not as bad as the Dreamware nasal pillow mask *smile*).

Re: ResMed AirFit N30i nasal mask now available at cpap.com
I don't think the N30i is quieter than the DreamWear. I think the noise is from conduction through the tubes that run alongside your head. So, it doesn't matter how quiet ResMed says the mask is, the noise the wearer hears is noticeable and similar to the DreamWear. The N30i does better with humidity as it vents better and stays dry, whereas I always seem to have condensation in the DreamWear cushion. My solution to the noise for both the N30i and DreamWear is to wear foam earplugs.RogerSC wrote: ↑Thu Jan 24, 2019 4:01 amResMed brags about how quiet it is, 24dB compared to the AirFit P10 at 21dB. Re: ResMed AirFit N30i nasal mask now available at cpap.com
There's so much truth to this statement just like all of the "Pugsy Wisdom".

I read a lot of posts from long time users saying the Dreamwear is very noisy to them or that they think it's a bad design or that it just leaks too much air.
It seems the newer users, like me, who have nothing to compare it to do not have the same problem.
I'm super excited to try the N30i but I love the feeling of air of the Dreamwear nasal cushion. To me that "air motion" keeps me from feeling claustrophobic. I also always sleep with a fan blowing on me. I like that sensation.
I also don't hear anything except a white noise that puts me right to sleep. Now when the vent gets positioned wrong ... YES ... then it's noisy... but since I know it can be super quiet, I just fiddle a second or two until it gets quiet and I don't just accept the noise.
Someone wrote that they hoped dreamwear would redesign their nasal cushion and I had an instant moment of fear

Like so much in life, we are shaped by past experiences ... or "first" experiences.

I think you're right about the conduction. The first time I tried a DreamWear mask I found that it was incredibly noisy when I rolled to my side.Coffee Man wrote: ↑Thu Jan 24, 2019 8:47 amI don't think the N30i is quieter than the DreamWear. However, after I figured out that there was a leak at my nose and figured out how to stop that, the mask became completely quiet.
So somehow the sound from a small leak was being conducted all around my head through the frame, but when the leak was fixed I didn't hear a whisper,
not even the white noise that some users talk about.

Okay....just had a little chat with my DME guy.
He didn't even know the N30i even existed.
I am always the one to tell him about new masks.
Anyway...he's going to get me a demo to try.
That's our deal on some of these new masks....he gets me a demo and I get him an honest review.

Re: ResMed AirFit N30i nasal mask now available at cpap.com
I've been using the N30i that last few days. Before the DreamWear gel was my go-to mask. It was the best of the bunch for me.
And...I'm moving to the N30I. I'm a woman and using the standard frame. I think most women would need the smaller frame. The mask seems more stable to me all around. I'm a side sleeper and that knocking the frame so you get leaks thing is something I'm very aware of. It usually wakes me up and of course, looking at the data, there is a bit of leakage, over red line is 0.5%. My sleep is less broken with this mask for whatever combo of reasons. The venting is more diffuse as has been mentioned, and I find it quieter, even is the level is similar to the DreamWear. The sound is more diffuse and perhaps slightly lower pitched? Hard to describe..... The already added padding certainly cuts down on face marks. It comes apart easily for cleaning. The back strap is much more substantial as well. The mask is very light. No rainout, though I use a climateline hose, I'd still occasionally get a little moisture in the DreamWear pillow sometimes - not a mini-droplet with this one.
Daily stats were comparable to the DreamWear-Apap set 10.6 - 13 and running 95% at 11.64. I don't have high-pressure needs so maybe someone who does can report on that performance. I usually run 0.2-0.5 with the DreamWear. Same range with the N30i.
The pillows are interesting. I sincerely hope that their manufacturing is consistent unlike the build of previous masks. I'm using a medium. I like the fact that the pillow are sized based more on nose shape and size rather than S, M, L of the same pattern as is more typical. The card that comes with it to help you choose your pillow size is helpful and you need to try them and see what works for you. For me, the pillow is very, very comfortable and less invasive. Sometimes the Dreamware pillow causes a little irritation around my nares, so bye-bye- to that. The pressure is more diffused as it sits beneath your nose.
Generally, it feels like the octopus on your face is a little less aggressive
What don't I like? Well, not sure how well the pillows will hold up so planning on picking up a few of those as they become available. Hopefully, that will be soon.
So, all in all, I like it and am going to let my insurance pay for another and a few pillows...and a replacement backstrap.

I ordered mine Wednesday and received it today. On the P10 and Nuance Pro I use the large pillow. But on this mask the medium seems like it
will work.I will try it tonight and see how it works,

I'm using the DreamWear nasal mask most nights now, with a Ruby chinstrap under it, and getting good results. I think I probably will try the N30i at some point but am not in a rush to do so.silver123 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 26, 2019 10:41 amI've been using the N30i that last few days. The DreamWear is quiet enough most of the time, but my wife does hear noise when the air from the vents bounces off a pillow or sheets.
It only takes a couple of seconds to correct that problem when it occurs, but perhaps that isn't even an issue with the N30i.

Re: ResMed AirFit N30i nasal mask now available at cpap.com
I received my N30i on Saturday in the mail. Of course I had already ordered a replacement Dreamwear frame and nasal pillow that was delivered Friday.
The fit card from the N30i showed that I was right on the boarder of Small and Medium. I tried the medium on a test fit and felt like it was a "hard press" on the sides of my nose/nostril.
I switched to the medium and slept all night.
On Sunday my GF said she had trouble falling asleep and was listening to my mask. Normally she doesn't complain at all about my mask. Hmmmm I woke up and my nose was a little sore and I think its because the nasal pillow from the N30i is hard plastic on the outside and it seems to press on my nose. I also felt like my nose was a little dry. I usually keep my humidity on 2.
Sunday night I switched to the wide pillow which seemed weird as I usually wear a large dreamwear frame with a small pillow. The medium is more comfortable but seems to leak easier. (Yes I've tried all the combos). I also bumped my humidity up to 3. Slept all night. No more complaints from GF about noise...
All in all, these masks are VERY comparable. I think I like the N30i a little better for comfort of the frame, but like the DW pillow better. The N30i I think is slightly noisier.
The one thing that has been a little annoying to me is the vent at the top of your head on the DW seemed to always contact my pillow which would make a noise that I would hear and cause me to readjust. The N30i has the same type of vent, but I haven't had to readjust my pillow in 3 nights with the N30i.
You probably can't go wrong with either one.
