Reduce noise on Airmini and use any mask
Re: Reduce noise on Airmini and use any mask
Thank you for solving this issue. After spending close to 1k I was heartbroken with the noise, especially since the Resmed 10 is so quiet. No returns by my store either. I have ordered muffler and having converter printed today! Will post once I put it all together and check out the noise reduction.
Re: Reduce noise on Airmini and use any mask
I'm new too and am having EXACTLY the same issue! I have my Qtube and the adapter, but we're scratching our heads as to how to connect the mask's tubing.
Re: Reduce noise on Airmini and use any mask
I misunderstood the adapter and Qtube when I ordered both of them as I thought they'd both made my mini's mask quieter. I can't say I notice a difference in noise using my regular mask's tubing vs. the Airmini's. I'm leaving on a business trip soon and no more time to mess around with this equipment. I haven't even tried the humidification thing because I didn't want to prematurely open the packaging. I wonder if that helps or hurts the noise level.
I'll add that I wrote to ResMed and they were not terribly helpful. I'm in the medical device industry myself, so I'm surprised they were less than empathic or concerned.
Maybe I'll get used to the whole thing. Ugh.

Sorry but I haven't checked this thread lately. Hopefully, the picture below could help you with how everything is connected together.

Re: Reduce noise on Airmini and use any mask
Hello
I had a friend print this for me from the posted link on thingyverse and it will not fit into my AirMini.... is there a trick to make it fit? or to make it print differently?? I can try to sandpaper it down but then I was worried about the inside pieces lining up?
Any thoughts or tips would be welcome!

Each printer is different and may print differently for the same object. The important thing about 3D printing is to ensure the printer is properly calibrated. The only thing I could suggest is to have your friend scale down the print in the slicer program he's using. As this is a relatively small print, it shouldn't take more than 20-30 minutes to print.henryga wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 12:30 pmHello

Re: Reduce noise on Airmini and use any mask
Hi All,
Just spent my first night with the airmini, I'm as disappointed as the rest of you.
That breathing noise kept me awake, then would wake me up.
I found myself with my fingers in my ears trying to figure out if earplugs would help.
Good grief, got it to go on a cruise tomorrow, I'll just have to deal with it I guess.
Not a happy Resmed customer.

Hi,
Thank you for the file to print the adapter, what should it cost me to have that printed?

Re: Reduce noise on Airmini and use any mask
I've found exactly what others have mention: the AirMini is extremely noisy, with the noise coming from the Humidx assembly. I wish I would have known about the noise issue prior to buying the machine (bought 1 month ago).
Thanks for the 3D hose connector adaptor, I'm going to look into getting one printed so that I can use the hose from my ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet with the AirMini.

3D printers are very finicky, it is hard to get perfectly calibrated prints from hobby printers. You could order one from Shapeways, which use very high-end printers, or you could just buy one of the adapters available online like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1PC-Air-Mini-U ... 3493920913henryga wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 12:30 pmHello

Thanks for the link to the adapter. I'll be receiving it in 18-47 business days.juaquin wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 8:53 pm3D printers are very finicky, it is hard to get perfectly calibrated prints from hobby printers. Re: Reduce noise on Airmini and use any mask
Hi,
Thank all for the great posts, I wanted a solution that would keep the original Mask and AirMini but quiet down using the idea of the posters to use the Qtube.
So here is what I did:
1) Got the adapter on ebay to convert AirMini output to regular tubing (This will allow to connect the QTube muffler)
Ebay (best price but 2 weeks shipment time) This is what I did.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1PC-CPAP-BiPA ... 49.l2649
Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Univer ... 93&sr=8-3
2) Purchase the QTube muffler that includes a small cpap tube extension.
Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Univers ... 193&sr=8-3
3) Get adapter that allows the Airmini Mask tubing to connect to the Qtube.
Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07L ... TF8&psc=1
I tested this adapter and the fit is good.
It definitely reduces the noise and consider it worth it although not as quiet as the Airsense10, quiet enough to sleep.
Here is a picture of the components that match the numbers I used previously.

Re: Reduce noise on Airmini and use any mask
Just want to add my voice to this thread. Very disappointed with noise level of this machine. The response from RESMED is sort of like, "well so what we conned you" out of $1,000. It really feels like class action time.
